(Back to the rooftop.)

Tracker: You helped me. Now I will help you.

Skye: But there's no way out. There's soldiers at every door.

Tracker: We won't use a door.

Skye: You mean...climb down?

Tracker: Sure. You carry her (motions to Callie), I carry you.

Skye: Okay. Come on Callie.

(Callie hops into her arms.)

Tracker: Ready?

Skye: Yes.

Tracker: Don't be afraid.

Skye: I'm not afraid.

(Tracker leaps over the edge and holds on to a gargoyle head.)

Skye: Now I'm afraid.

Tracker: The trick is not to look down.

(Tracker begins swinging down the exterior of the cathedral.)

Skye: You've done this before?

Tracker: No.

(Tracker finally stops on a slanted roof.)

Skye: Wow. You're quite an acrobat.

Tracker: Thank you--

(His words are cut short as the tile they're on breaks free and they begin to slide down the roof as if they were on a sled. They're able to jump off their sled just before it goes sailing off into the air. It lands a few blocks away. The guards on the ground hear the crash and go off to investigate.)

Guard 4: Check the alley!

Guard 5: This way!

(As guards pass, Tracker, Skye and Callie hide as part
of a statue. When the coast is clear, they speak again.)

Tracker: I hope I didn't scare you.

Skye: Not for an instant.

(Callie groans as her heart is only just now beginning to beat again.)

Tracker: I'll never forget you, Skye.

Skye: Come with me.

Tracker: What?!?

Skye: To the Court of Miracles. Leave this place.

Tracker: Oh, no. I'm never going back out there again. You saw what happened to me today. No. This is where I belong.

Skye: All right, then I'll come to see you.

Tracker: What? Here? But, the soldiers, and Humdinger, and...

Skye: I'll come after sunset.

Tracker: At sunset, I ring the evening mass, and after that,
I clean the kooisters, and then I ring the vespers, and--

(Skye gives Tracker a little peck on the cheek.)

Tracker: --Whatever's good for you.

(Skye pulls a talisman off her neck and hands it to Tracker.)

Skye: If you ever need sanctuary, this will show you the way.

Tracker: But how?

Skye: Just remember: When you wear this woven band, you hold the city in your hand.

(Callie meows as the guards are returning.)

Tracker: Hurry! You must go!

(Skye swings down a rope to the ground and runs off into the dark. Tracker climbs back up to his tower.)
