Can't you just stay with me?
Just promise me
That you'll never leave
Why can't you see?
This life was meant to be
-Promise me

Matt's POV

I was walking home from school with Stephanie, my friend and neighbor. She was being unusually quiet when she suddenly said something unexpected.

And then, "How are you and the new kid doing?" she asks.
"What do you mean?" I ask, startled for some reason.
"Well, I saw how you two were looking at each other..." she says mysteriously. I raise my eyebrows in question.
"Oh, guys are so clueless!" she exclaims frustrated
Not all that interested, I say simply "Whatever."

By now, we've reached our homes and say our farewells. Wonder what that was all about?

Then I walk inside, to see a note, sidetracking my thoughts.

Matthew,
I had to go to my parent's house. I won't be home until late and neither will your father. I hope you understand. You can stay home, if you'd like, or you can go to a friends house. Have a goodnight!

Sincerely, Mom

Great. Now what? Maybe...

No.

No.

But maybe...

Finally, I decide to do it. What do I have to lose, right? So I send the messages.

Hey, Nate?

My parents aren't going to be home tonight...

Do you mind if I stay the night at your house?

To do homework, of course!

Sure!

I mean...

I don't see why not.

See you in 30?

Yeah. Seeya then.

Okay... Don't know if this story is actually any good. I'm sorry if I'm lousy with dialogue and... pretty much everything else. I'm trying, though, so please bare with me.
