Emma's POV
"I'm telling you, Emma! If he says one more thing about my Dad. He's dead! I'm just gonna kill him." Noah says on the phone, forcing me to laugh out loud.
"Noah, calm down okay. That's how bosses are. They're jerks. Everyone knows that."
"Yes, but this jerk in particular has been this way since we were kids."
"You're trying to get yourself fired already? You haven't even started yet!" I laughed, flipping through my Vogue magazine.
"I'm serious , Emmalee! I hate it already. I'm coming back." I groaned, rolling my eyes at him even though he couldn't see me.
"Noah, you promised." I scolded, closing the magazine and standing up from the couch.
"Yeah..." He says quietly, and I smile at Jake as he walks through the door.
"Hi!" I say to him, and he kisses me quickly before going into the room. "So, have you met any pretty girls yet?" I asked Noah.
"No, I mean, a couple."
"Ooh! Did you sleep with them?" I asked jokingly.
"Oh- ha ha. That's funny. I met one of them on the plane, and the other one is Leo's assistant."
"So you work with her? She'll be in bed in no time."
"It's not even like that with her! She's more like a friend." My eyes widen, and I laugh at him.
"WOW! Noah Avery meets a girl and she automatically falls into the friend category?"
"Are you calling me a hoe?" He says, and I can hear the smile in his voice which makes me smile.
"If the shoe fits, then you have to wear it." Jake comes out of the bathroom, and sits next to me on the couch.
"Hey," he starts, wrapping his arm around my shoulder. "Ask Noah what Leo said to him." I laugh a little, shaking my head.
"Jake wants to know what Leo said, Noah."
"Uh..." He trailed off. "Hey, how've you been? And then bull shit, bull shit, bull shit."
"Yeah, well." Jake says, playing with my hair.
"You'll be okay. But we have to go because we have to meet with our parents, and this wedding planner in an hour." I say, actually not looking forward to that.
"Ew." Noah says courtly, and I laugh.
"God, I wish you could save me. Your mom is so persistant."
"DON'T LET HER WIN!" Noah yells, and Jake and I both laugh.
"You're the only who can stand up to her. I can't. And Jake won't. So all she does is win."
"Why couldn't I have left after the wedding?"
"I don't know. But I gotta go. Kisses. Love you. Bye!" I made kissing noises to the phone before I hung up, and then chucked my phone on the coffee table. "I do not feel like hearing our parents fight today." I say to Jake, and he laughs.
"I'm used to it. It's kinda fun."
"That's fun for you?" I ask in a wide eyed gaze.
"Well-"
"You are so weird," I say, cutting him off.
"You're weird too. That's why you want to marry me." I grinned, shaking my head.
