It's been nearly two days since our fight, and Jake hasn't spoken a single word to me, nor I to him. It's really hard considering the fact that we still haven't made any of the major decisions for our wedding, that I'm not even sure is happening anymore.
Standing up straight, I gazed at myself in the mirror after my shower, examining my face carefully. Jake is right. I am boring. Even my face is boring. The same pale skin I've had since birth, the same hair color, the same green eyes. I don't wear makeup, I don't dye my hair, I barely curl it!
I don't know ... I thought he was okay with who I was. I thought he loved me for me. To be honest, I shoulda known better. He is Noah's brother after all. And don't even get me started on their mom! I mean does that woman even age?
I heaved a heavy sigh then threw myself onto the bed. I can't believe he has me thinking about this. How dare he? Suddenly, there was a knock on the door, and I rushed at the thought of a distraction.
"Hi! Luna!" I beamed, and she hugged me once she fully got into our apartment.
"Hey, Emma! I missed you so I thought I'd stop by." We both settled down in the living room, and she pulled out her cell phone. "Oh my god! Emma, I went to this party last night, talk about FUN!" She gushed, flipping through her photos. "I don't know why you don't come out with me sometimes," she sighed, and I took her phone to look at the photos more closely.
"Those clothes... that make up... How?" I asked her, zooming in to her perfect caramel face.
She didn't answer me right away, she only laughed. "Girl, I got two words for you. YouTube. Tutorials." She shook her head, her face laced with humor.
"Could you show me, Luna?" I asked her, but she only laughed more.
"Emma, don't be crazy. You don't wear makeup. You're already beautiful." I sighed heavily, sitting her phone down at the coffee table. "Emma what's the matter?" She said softly, all finished with her laughing. "Why you so interested in makeup all of a sudden?"
"I don't know, Luna." I admitted, shaking my head defeatedly. "I guess I just haven't been feeling myself lately." I sighed, rubbing my neck with my hand.
"What do you mean?" She asked, her brown eyes showing more confusion than clarity.
"Luna, it's Jake... I don't think he likes me anymore," I told her, and she laughed.
"Girl! You are crazy! Jake loves you. I can't believe- what would make you think that?" She asked.
"You mean, other than the fact that he told me?" I said, rolling my eyes. "We got into a big fight last week and all of his dark thoughts suddenly came to light," I told her.
"Damn, Emma..." She trailed off.
"Exactly."
"Well, maybe there's an explanation... Maybe he's just stressed. I'm sure he didn't mean it." I groaned in annoyance, then stood to my feet.
"See, this is what I'm talking about! Everyone thinks that Jake is so perfect, and everything that he does has a reason, but when I have a problem, or I have complaints, I'm just crazy!" I spat, and she sighed.
"I don't think you're crazy," she argued, but I was already done with everything at that point.
"It's no fixing it Luna, he's over me, and I know it."
"You don't know that," she argued.
"He don't even look at me the same! He pays more attention to our wedding planner than he ever did me," I sighed. "I can't even remember the last time we had sex." She didn't respond right away, she seemed to be thinking about something. "Be honest, Luna. Do you think I'm boring?" I asked her, and she looked at me like I'd grown two heads.
"Emma," She laughed, fumbling around in her seat.
"Be honest!" I ordered angrily, and she nodded slowly.
"Just a little bit, honey... But, listen-" she smiled, coming to where I was standing, "it's not something that can't be fixed. If you think your man is getting bored, I am the friend that's gonna spice you up!" She grinned, and I stared at her in shock. "I love makeovers!" She said, then grabbed her phone off the table.
"What're you doing?" I asked her, and she just smiled deviously.
"I'm turning you from Plain Jane to Monica Lewinsky. You are about to get your Beyonce on," she smirked.
