Jacinda's POV
I woke up to the sun shining in my face and not my mother yelling at me.
I sleepily got up from my bed and walked towards my door.
It was a Saturday, which meant I didn't need to work.
Saturdays and Sundays were days of rest for the younger employed avians.
I opened my door and walked down to the kitchen, the tiles were cold under my feet.
I entered the kitchen and opened the silver refrigerator.
A blast of cold air blew gently into the front of my body, I shivered a bit.
I quickly grabbed an apple and then shut the door.
As soon as I did that my mother landed on the porch.
"Great" I thought as she came into the kitchen.
I began to sink my teeth into the apple's soft and cold flesh.
My mother looked at me as she tried to walk closer to me.
I kept on walking farther away as she tried to get close.
After about five minutes of playing my game, she gave up finally.
"Jacinda I have talked with the elders and about you keeping things from them" said my mother.
"What!, I never kept anything from them, I was going to tell them" I said.
"Well I did it for you then, they are going to send some avian guards out to remove the threat" said my mother.
I didn't say anything and countiuned eating my apple.
"Well if there is nothing else you would like to talk about I am going back to work" said my mother.
"Fine be safe" I said.
Mother didn't replied and walked out and flew off.
Minutes passed and after I finished my apple I went upstairs.
I walked into my room and opened my closet.
I pulled out a grey long sleeve athletic shirt and some black leggings, after I had completed the easy task I went on to the hard task...brushing my hair.
After a couple minutes of pain, my hair was smooth (sorta).
I pulled on some socks and walked out of my room.
I walked downstairs and then dug around for my black combat boots that were buried under shoes, which were mostly mother's.
I slipped them on and opened the front door.
I inhaled the crisp mountain morning air.
Then I opened my wings and jumped into the air, a wind caught under my wings and after a couple of wing beats I was just above the trees.
As I flew I kept an eye out for avians or people down below as I flew back towards Joel's camp.
I knew I could get in trouble for going back, but what could go wrong?
It only took me a couple minutes to find his camp.
There was a slight smell of smoke and his tent was visible from above, but if you looked hard enough.
I tucked in my wings and dived down. I landed softly a couple maybe yards away from his campsite.
As I approached I saw that his camera was still pointed up towards the sky. "Odd" I thought.
I then heard movement from inside the tent and a couple moments later Joel came out.
I had to be honest he is so handsome every time I see him.
"What I am thinking? Avians are not allowed to fall in love with humans" I thought.
I watched him for who knows how long in the same bush from the night before.
Until I looked up towards the sky and saw something big flying in this direction. My blood froze, there were two avian guards and they where here to get rid of Joel, and they wouldn't ask nicely to him to get off the mountain.
I knew they would hurt him to keep us safe. I had to do something, then something came to me.
I then got out of the bush and ran quietly away from Joel's camp.
I stopped a good distance away and turned back around and yelled "help me! I am stuck!".
I didn't know if it worked, but then I opened my wings and quickly flew up to the closet tree which was an oak.
I hid in the branches and waited, then a couple minutes later Joel came where I used to stand.
He looked confused, "Hello is anyone out there?" Said Joel.
His voice was so calming I almost wanted to call out to him.
I then saw two shadows and saw the guards, they were flying back towards the roost".
I guess you didnt find what you were looking for" I said softly.
Joel gave up after a couple minutes of waiting for a response.
"You are safe for now" I said softly as I watched him walk back towards his camp.
After a couple minutes of waiting I jumped off the tree branch, which in the process got scratched everywhere where bare skin was visible.
I opened my wings and flew up towards the sky.
I was flying higher than I was allowed to, but I didn't care much.
I knew the only ones in the mountains were the avians and joel.
Then after only a couple seconds later there was a big bang and then I felt pain shoot from my right wing to the rest of my body.
Then I felt myself falling, I tried to stay in the air, but my right wing didn't move as I continued falling.
The ground was getting closer and closer and I closed my eyes hoping this was just another nightmare, but when my body hit the ground the pain became much worse and I knew it wasn't a nightmare and I opened my mouth and screamed.
