Joel's POV
When I felt myself take off out of my seat I thought was done for, but I was saved.
Jacinda got me out of my seat and window, then into the river.
Now that's a first for me, but when I hit the river's water, well...
I screamed while I was underwater and then I realized something or someone was protecting me from the rocks.
I saw feathers and I knew who was protecting, Jacinda and she was unconscious
I then got out of Jacinda's protection hug and got her above the river's surface.
I struggled against the current and keeping me and Jacinda above the river's surface so we both wouldn't drown.
I eventually got me and Jacinda on a river bank, I breathed in and out and looking up into the sky.
The wind picked up and I shivered, then I heard the snap of a twig and I whipped my head around to see Aspen, with a gun drawn.
I moved slowly in front of Jacinda as I eyed Aspen, "really?! As soon as you see I am with another girl, you ram us into a river?! I exclaimed.
Aspen cracked a smile, then laughed softly.
"I am not still angry about you breaking up with me, I just want one thing of you...the avian" said Aspen.
I eyed the gun before I spoke, "she isn't coming with you" I said.
"You aren't the one that gets to decide if I get her or not" said Aspen the putting one finger on the trigger.
Then I felt myself be pushed to the sand and I saw quick movement, then before I knew it Jacinda was up and the gun was out of Aspen's hands.
Jacinda had her wings spread out almost protecting me, I then noticed she was straining her wing that was injured to stay open.
Aspen noticed it as well, "I guess it takes more than hitting your head on rocks to take you down" said Aspen.
"You could say that, now leave before I do something we avians hate to do to either people or other avians" snapped Jacinda.
I backed up, considering I have never seen this character of Jacinda yet.
"You are still weak from my guess me shooting you the day before, I can see it in your eyes" said Aspen.
"You hunters think you can hurt anything or anyone because you have a weapon in your hands, that simply isn't true" said Jacinda then walked towards Aspen unafraid.
Aspen scrambled for her gun, but quicker than the eye can follow, Jacinda hit the gun into my direction.
It slide over the damp sand and close to my feet, I honestly didn't know what to do with it yet.
Jacinda continued to stalk towards Aspen, with anger flowing through her veins.
Jacinda got very close to Aspen, but then she froze...I was confused until Jacinda turned around.
In her right rib cage was a small dagger, her blood was soaking through her shirt...Jacinda took one look at me and then collapsed face first in the damp sand.
Aspen then looked to me, "you know Joel, Avians like her are as vulnerable as us, but with wings" said Aspen.
I didn't move, I couldn't, I didn't know what to do until I saw the gun laying close to my feet.
I then quickly picked it up and pointed right at Aspen's heart.
"Stay away from me, my family, and Jacinda or else I shoot you right here and right now" I said.My hand was shaking, but I didn't stop pointing it Aspen's heart. "Leave now or I shoot, last chance" I said looking at Aspen straight into her eyes.
Aspen eyed her gun then smiled, "Fine, but be warned...I will be back with company" said Aspen.
Then Aspen quickly disappeared into the forest, leaving me here alone with Jacinda possibly dying.
