Joel's POV

As we drove, I know I saw Jacinda giving me an odd look.

I had a place for us to eat and I should probably tell Jacinda my little secret.

It wasn't long before I pulled into a small restaurant that me, my mom, and echo love coming to.

Jacinda looked around and as she did, I took a deep breath.

"Jacinda before we go inside, I want to tell you something" I said looking into her eyes, wishing I could actually see what color they are.

Jacinda looked into my eyes, "what is it?" Asked Jacinda.

Then before I could start, she guessed what I was about to say to her.

"Wondering why I gave you an odd look" said Jacinda.

"Yes, you are not the only one with a secret or two" I said.

"Then what is your secret you are wishing to tell?" Asked Jacinda.

I took a short and yet deep breath, "I can't see color" I said finally.

"So you are colorblind? That isn't a big secret in my opinion" said Jacinda.

"I am not colorblind, I literally can't see color, it is a rare gentic disorder called achromatopsia" I said.

Jacinda looked at me with great thought, "you can't see any color at all? Asked Jacinda.

"No, only white, gray, and black...that is all" I said.

Both of us said nothing, "question, what is your eye color?" I asked.

"Imagine the sky when the sun is setting and that beautiful midnight blue comes out, that is my eye color" said Jacinda.

I said nothing again, either did Jacinda.

"Well let's go eat something shall we" I said and opened my door.

"Don't need to tell me twice" said Jacinda, looking and sounding relieved that the awkwardness has past.

The restaurant I brought Jacinda to is called the lark bunting, named after Colorado's state bird.

When we entered, the smell of different foods filling my nose and Jacinda's too.

When we sat down a waitress came to our booth and gave us menus

"Hello what will it be?" Asked the waitress.

"Can you give us a couple minutes?" I asked.

"Sure, just holler when ready" said the waitress and walked away.

Then Jacinda looked at the menu and she must have found something, because she put the menu down a couple seconds later.

"Have you decided already?" I asked.

"Yes, it is easy, sometimes humans take longer than most avians" said Jacinda.

I said nothing and then our waitress came back over, "ready you two?" Asked the waitress.

"Yes, we are ready" I said and gave her me and Jacinda's menu's.

"What will it be for you?" Asked the waitress to Jacinda.

"I will have the tuna melts, with a giant pickle on the side please" said Jacinda.

"Okay, now how about you?" Asked the waitress.

"I will have a cheeseburger, with no onions" I said.

"Okay, is that all for you two?" Asked the waitress.

"Yes, we are good, thank you" I said.

Then the waitress walked away towards the kitchen.

When we were waiting, I saw Jacinda move around to trying to get comfortable.

"Are they bothering you much?" I asked almost teasing her a bit.

"What do you think, of course they are"said Jacinda.

Then it was silence, until the food came and Jacinda had to be still.

We both dug into our food and both me and Jacinda were done in record time.

It was like both of us body's were in a rush for some reason.

After we finished our lunch, I signaled the waitress over and asked for the bill.

The waitress came back about ten minutes later, which made Jacinda a bit suspicious.

The waitress gave me the bill and saw it had already been paid off by someone.

"Who paid?" I asked the waitress.

"The young woman on the bar with the camo teen shirt on" said the waitress.

"Thank you" I said and when I looked at the girl, I saw this wasn't a random stranger doing something kind, but someone I wish not to see.

"Jacinda, let's get going" I said grabbing Jacinda's arm and pulled her gently outside.

"Joel, is there something you aren't telling me?" Asked Jacinda.

"Yes, but first let's get in the car and far away from this place right now" I said.

Then both me and Jacinda got in my car and I quickly drove out of the restaurant parking lot.

Jacinda looked behind in the back window to see if we were being followed.

"So what happened in the restaurant?" Asked Jacinda.

I sighed, there was a person there that would have made lunch a whole lot harder" I said.

"I still don't know why you still ran the opposite way" said Jacinda.

"Because she is my ex girlfriend and she has secrets that are deadlier than mine" I said.

Jacinda showed a bit of emotion and then looked out the window.

I then looked to see if we were being followed and luckily we weren't.
