Chapter 5: C̞͔̠͍̟o̟̫̙͜dẹ̺̝͔ ̻̼̘͘Ņ̖̯͎a͚̥̻͜m͇̖eș̼̮ͅͅ

Barry left Audrey with a tough decision. She was hesitant to trust him.

"Please" Barry insisted as he started to walk closer to her "just come with me to Star Labs, I can tell you everything you want to know.." He said but she shook her head "how can I trust someone who hides behind a mask?"

Barry sighed quietly. The girl was right, she was still hesitant and probably paranoid of what he would do if she refused. He knew there wasn't much he could do to gain her trust, except..

"Ok, you're right.." He paused, hesitantly reaching for his mask but deciding to take it off anyways, revealing his face "my name is Barry, and I meant what I said before, I'm here to help."

Audrey was quiet as she examined his face. He looked young but still older than her.

"See.. Now what do you say?"

"Alright, fine" she replied after a minute of silence.

A small smile appeared on Barry's face, he managed to solve something for once without his powers or any violence. He nodded and held out his hand "trust me?"

She hesitated but nodded slightly, taking his hand, unsure of what he was going to do until it was too late. Not even a second later, Barry ran back to Star Labs with her.

Surprising both Caitlin and Cisco, Barry ran into the cortex with Audrey. The shock of going so fast quickly faded as she started to get a look at her surroundings.

"Uh, welcome back?" Cisco said a bit confused "I see you've brought a guest-" "yeah, long story" Barry replied, rubbing the back of his neck.

Cisco nodded, he couldn't help but stare a bit "so, you found her after all, huh?"

Barry nodded "yeah, weren't you listening through the comms?" He asked but Cisco shook his head "they were malfunctioning again, we couldn't hear a thing" he replied which made Barry turn his attention to Audrey who was still standing behind them, still quiet.

"Did you have something to do with that?" He asked her, watching her movement shift to a more uncomfortable position, answering his question without a word.

"Why did you do it?" Cisco asked curiously but she shrugged in reply "how can I trust someone when others are always eavesdropping in.."

"Sounds like a mild form of paranoia" Caitlin interrupted but Cisco signaled her to stop "uh I mean, it's understandable."

Cisco nodded "so, how did you get your powers?"

Audrey looked away as he asked the question. Even she was still unsure as to what happened to her that day.

"I was walking home from school one day.. It started to rain when the explosion in the sky happened. Before I knew it, a telephone pole crashed down and electrocuted the puddle I was walking over" She explained as Caitlin nodded, walking over to her "which caused you to be electrocuted as well" she added as Audrey nodded "I blacked out but when I woke up, the puddle was still electrocuted and I was laying in it.."

"So your body practically override the electrical current" Cisco said but quickly stopped "that's it!"

"What?" Audrey asked in confusion but both Barry and Caitlin already knew what he meant by it.

"Really?" Barry asked but he smirked in reply "oh c'mon, Override is a cool name!" "What about Glitch?" Caitlin interrupted, earning a glare from Cisco "Hey! I'm the name guy here!"

"Guys, now's not the time for this."

Both Caitlin and Cisco stopped, returning their attention to Barry once more, Barry was right after all.

"You're right, my bad" Cisco nodded.

Caitlin gave a small nod as well, looking to Audrey next "I'd like to run some tests to see what you're capable of and what not- If you don't mind of of course" "Uh sure" Audrey nodded in reply "whatever I can do to help."

Caitlin could sense Audrey was still a bit nervous being around them and she could understand that. Being around new people in a new environment, especially for a young Meta, it couldn't have been easy.

"Don't worry, you're completely safe here at Star Labs, we'll do anything we can to help you as well" Caitlin reassured her with a warm smile. She did seem nice to Audrey, maybe even nicer than Barry.

Caitlin always did know what to say to anyone.

Cisco nodded, smiling as well "yeah.. And while we wait, we can decide on your Meta name" he added, earning a small glare from Caitlin which he shrugged off.

"Hey chill it, Frosty."
