Chapter 11: A̝̠͚ͅͅ ̧̦̝̳W̖̩̱̙̳̼ò͍͈̥̻̗͈͈r̼̪̲̦̜͟ͅd͖̦

After returning to Star Labs from a light with Mark Mardon aka Weather Wizard, both Barry and Audrey were left tired and injured. Caitlin ordered the two to rest but Barry didn't stay down for long.

"Barry, you should be resting!" Caitlin exclaimed as Barry stood up from the medical bed they had him resting on. He winced a bit from his wounds but got up anyways "guys I'm fine, really" He assured them but Caitlin shook her head.

"You have multiple fractures and a mild concussion, even with your powers it'll still take at least another hour or two to heal completely."

"I'll manage" Barry replied stubbornly.

Both Caitlin and Cisco knew it was always difficult to convince Barry to do something he didn't want to do. Even Joe couldn't most of the time.

"How's she doing?" Barry asked Caitlin, changing the subject.

Caitlin gave him a small reassuring smile "Don't worry she's doing good now, she just needs to rest, as do you" She replied "Mardon's in the pipeline now, you don't have to worry about him anymore."

"Yeah until the next time he breaks out or someone let's him out" He muttered.

Cisco shook his head as he walked over "none of us will ever let him out, and not to worry I upgraded the Star Labs security system so no one woll be getting in and out under our noses anytime soon-"

"Who won't be getting out?"

Cisco turned around quickly with a slight jump as Wells stood at the doorway, confused as to what they were talking about "Jesus! why didn't the breach alarm go off?" He groaned with a hand placed over his chest from the scare.

Wells rolled his eyes and looked to the others for an answer "what did I miss?"

"Well" Caitlin glancee at Barry and Cisco before replying "Barry took down one of the metas we've encountered in the past" "I see, so whicy one was it this time?" He asked unimpressed as always.

"Mark Mardon" Caitlin answered but Cisco interrupted "I think you mean Weather Wizard, I don't just name these metas for nothing ya know!"

Wells rolled his eyes as he walked over, placing his backpack on one of the desks "what else did I miss?"

Caitlin shrugged "other than that, not much-" she replied "well maybe one other thing.."

"We found a new meta" Cisco added, drawing Wells' attention.

"What new meta?"

After a quick briefing from the others, Wells decided he wanted to meet the new meta and see for himself. He was both curious and suspicious from what Barry, Caitlin and Cisco told him.

"Harry I wouldn't try anything if I were you" Cisco warned Wells as he followed him around the cortex. But Wells ignored him once more as he walked to the medical bay where Audrey was resting.

"What's your plan anyways? Gonna use your scare tactics?"

"Maybe" Wells replied to Barry with a blunt expression as Cisco rolled his eyes "of course" he muttered.

"I heard that-" "I know" Cisco smirked.

"Just let me see the kid" Wells replied, sounding annoyed at Cisco.

Cisco glanced at Barry before giving Wells a shrug "Fine, be my guest."

Wells stepped aside and walked into the medical bay while Barry and Cisco watched from the cortex, expecting the worst to come at any moment.

They watched as Audrey's attention turned to Wells, watching him as he walked over and sat down next to her. She didn't seem to ask any questions just yet.

"What's your name?" Wells asked girl as he took off his glasses.

Aurdrey looked at him, unsure of who he was.

"Audrey" she replied but her response wasn't enough for him "Audrey what?"

"Leigh.. Audrey Leigh" She muttered as Wells took a mental note "and what are you doing here?"

"Barry brought me here-" "And why's that?"

She hesitated a bit as Wells waited for a response "he said they could help me."

"Oh did they now, help you with what exactly? Your abilities?" He asked as she nodded.

Wells stood up, rubbing his temples before walking out of the room. He didn't seem too amused.

As he walked back into the cortex, he noticed Barry and Cisco waiting for him.

"So how bad was it?"

"You both could hear so why bother asking" Wells groaned but Cisco rolled his eyes "so we can hear it from you silly" he replied sarcastically "mind toning it down for once?"

"And why? So you can trust another potential dangerous Meta?" Wells snapped "look what happened when you trusted Jay-"

"Hey! That's enough" Cisco interrupted.

He walked over to Wells, his annoyed expression turned to a now serious and blunt one "Now I don't know what your deal is but what I see in the next room is a teen that was given powers she didn't ask for thanks to us.. The least we can do is help instead of assuming the worst."

"Cisco's right, we can't let our past determine our future, we promised to try to help and save as many metas as we can" Barry replied.

Wells groaned quietly, placing his fingers on his temples once more "this is just another distraction, maybe even an intentional one-"

"Well we can't just sit back and do nothing" Barry shook his head "We have to give her a chance, everyone deserves one.."

Wells glanced at Cisco, then to Audrey in the other room before sighing in defeat "fine" he replied "but if you're wrong about this, Allen-"

"I won't be."

"Fine" Wells nodded, placing his glasses back on "now if you need me I'll be where I always am" he said before walking out of the cortex, leaving Barry and Cisco.

They both shared a glance as he walked away, knowing he was still hesitant about the situation.

"What is up with Lex Luthor over there?" Cisco joked but Barry shrugged "I guess he's just having a bad day.."

Cisco scoffed "Yeah he seems to have those alot."
