1┊the arrival

The day that Leo would come back to Camp Half Blood was more than just a dream. You believed he wasn’t dead despite everyone’s beliefs, but when the large golden dragon arrived with a big entrance, you did not expect to see someone else on it’s back. Leo was there as you’ve always daydreamed about, with his messy hair, his signature smirk and the smell of fire he had with him. The problem was the person behind him, with her hands wrapped affectionately around his waist. She was beyond beautiful, and the only thought you had when you saw her was ‘Goddess’.

You against her, for Leo’s love and affection? It was an obvious battle, one you know you cannot win.

Your enthusiasm was soon drained out of you and your head-start you gave yourself from the volleyball field became useless as other campers rushed past you to meet Leo. You wanted to be the first. As you’ve always dreamt off, you would be the first and jump into his warm embrace.

It hit you that you’ve sudden felt cold, like a whole ice storm was approaching. From the distance, you saw, with a broken heart, how delicate he was with the lady he brought along. He gave her a kiss on her cheek and you swore you could heart your heart break even further.

Did he forget who you were? Was that kiss he gave you meant nothing to him? Probably. With that big stupid grin he has as the lady wrapped him in a big bear hug, he seemed to enjoy it immensely.

You lower your head and ever so quietly and slowly, you push your way out of the crowd. Your dreams have been shattered, right there and then, and you’ve never felt so beaten up before. You’ve fought countless of monsters as a demigod, each fight always leaving you feeling a pang of pain in your body and a tiredness that will not go away unless you dose yourself with ambrosia. That was how you felt, but it was worst because you know very well ambrosia could not fix it.

When you finally exited the crowd, your breath was still shaky. It took a while, but when you were finally far away from the scene, you could finally breath. Placing a hand on your chest and taking bigger breaths through your mouth, you leaned against the back of your cabin.

What went wrong? You asked yourself. You should be celebrating, giving Leo a hug and probably giving him a welcome kiss, but instead, you were alone. The daydreams you had about this day was gone like a soft scream carried by the wind.

Was the kiss really nothing?

You could feel your breath becoming shaky once again and a huge lump that formed in your throat was not helping. You started to shake and a small sob escaped your lips before you could stop it. Tears fell, and you’ve slowly retracted to a ball-like position, tucking your knees as close to your chest. One of your hands hovered over your lips and the day of the kiss seemed to flash past you vividly like a cinematic movie.

Yes, it was nothing.

You going to his shed in the middle of the night to coax him to sleep was nothing. Leo telling you to ignore him was nothing. Leo kissing you to shut you up was nothing.

Leo kissing you the second time with that stupid smile after he said “That was pleasant. I liked it.” was also nothing.

Nothing. Nothing. Nothing.

The warmth from the remembrance of the kiss was the only thing that made you not shiver more than you already did.

You heard footsteps approaching you and you quickly get up, wiping away your tears. You give them a quick and small wave, your back facing whoever it was and you made your way to the lake. You know very well who would be there and he’ll be able to help. Hopefully

I have about 4 chapters down. It is completely rewritten with a new plot in mind. I hope it pleases you guys! Do vote and comment because it keeps me going (I'm writing this because I owe my followers in a way.
