(this will be only about Cyborg. The title comes from the song 'It hurts like hell' by Fleurie. It's loosely based on the comic.)

Your laugh was the first thing Victor noticed about you. Technically, at the time, he already knew you, as you guys were part of the same group of friends, but he had a quite large group of friends, as expected from the school's star quarterback and top ten students. He knew everybody and everybody knew him. You were one of the persons he frequented during maths classes.

He could have noticed how good you were in maths, because after all, you two worked together, along with a dozen other persons, during the maths club. Yes, there was one of these, and yes, Victor took part in it. He didn't really like it, but his parents let him do sports as long as he worked on other stuff as well, so he didn't have a choice.

However, intelligence was not something that impressed Victor. It was important, sure, but he knew everything there was to know about it. Laughter was something else. Something he himself wasn't good at, in his opinion. You didn't seem to care about it. You threw your head back and laughed like people weren't staring. Your laugh was surprisingly loud, always bursting suddenly.

After that, he noticed your friends tended to tease you for it, and generally, he started to notice you. He found you different. If he had told you that, you would have told him that everyone proved to be different if you paid enough attention to them. He would have found that fascinating. He had grown up in a place where interesting things were limited, and followed precise rules.

You didn't really believe in rules. However, at that time, you and Victor weren't close. You had noticed him as well - it would have been impossible not to. You, on the other hand, were impressed by how smart he was, and slightly annoyed by how good he was in literally everything. But you thought of him as a... Good person. It didn't mean you wanted to get closer from him.

Things could have stayed just like that, in this statu quo, being interested by each other without making a move. At that time, everybody thought Victor would date the cheerleader's captain, because it was a funny cliché, and you were known for being in a secret relationship with the captain of the chess team. Who happened to be your best friend, but y'know, 'there's no friendship between a boy and a girl'.

The fun thing is, it wasn't life, nor 'fate' that gave a kick to start your story. One day, you were sitting next to him in class, and you guys started talking. It was as simple as that. Who would have thought, back then, that you would become so much?

It was easy to talk to Victor, but it was harder to get him to talk about himself. You liked to talk a lot about yourself, because you had noticed that trusting people often got them to trust you. And Victor started to like that. Talking about himself was hard. Words didn't come easily. But you listened, you were patient, and eventually, you helped.

'My parents are scientists.' That was the first thing he ever told you about himself, apart from what met the eye.

'Really?' you asked, tilting your head on the side. 'That sounds interesting. Are they the kind to work too much and you barely see them?'

His laugh was bitter. 'Sort of. But I'm their most successful experiment, so they make sure to keep an eye on me.'

You had an uncertain smile. Your mother was a mathematician - yes, that probably explained why you liked it that much - and she liked to give you some problems, both to train you and to estimate the levels of the problems mentioned, but you wouldn't have chosen the word 'experiment' to describe yourself. 'Please tell me you don't mean they tested stuff on you.'

He glanced at you, and the smile you had tried to produce immediately collapsed. 'Oh my God, Victor.' You put your hand on his arm. He glanced at it in surprise, then shrugged.
