You adopt a puppy

Wonder Woman / Diana Prince:

"(Y/N)!"

Upon hearing Diana's voice, you jumped from the couch on which you were comfortably settled with a book to go greet her. This was pretty usual for her, whenever she came home. You liked that, actually, since you never knew when to expect her, now that she had joined the Justice League. It allowed the two of you not to waste even a second of your time together.

As you ran down the stairs to join her, you noticed that she was holding a little something in her arms, something you hadn't seen in your house before, and something that made you squeal almost immediately.

"Oh my God, Diana, is that...?"

"This is Artemis," she answered proudly. "You remember how we had talked of..."

"Of course I remember!" you beamed. "I'm just— Oh, she's adorable."

"She's not just adorable," Diana chuckled proudly. "I brought her here straight from Themyscira. This particular breed is actually what inspired the legends around Cerberus."

You looked up at her, this time vaguely worried.

"This is going to sound stupid but... She's not going to grow two other heads, is she?"

Diana bursted out laughing, and as in awe at you were at the puppy, hearing this sound still warmed you heart more than anything else in the world.

"No," she said. "That was due to a curse placed by the Gods and— it's a long story. She's going to grow a lot, though, and become very strong."

You tried not to question her story. You had learned not to do that, since you had gotten together with Diana and found out everythingabout her. She had a lot of explanations for what you had always thought of as legends, and you just globally accepted them. Sure, some times, you really didn't, but you didn't tell her about it. She had become more realistic, since she lived in the 'human's world', but you absolutely loved the ingenuousness she still had.

"So your mother gave her to you?" you asked.

She nodded proudly. "She said she'd be a great companion for the battles I'd have to fight."

You frowned, but didn't say anything to that. You didn't really like the idea of using animals into battles, although you guessed it was different here. Amazons were very respectful of all forms of life, they probably had a reason to be fine with that.

"But I thought I would probably leave her here. With you."

You blinked a couple of times.

"Are you sure?" you asked. "I mean, if your mother gave her to you..."

"Those dogs are very smart. They can tell when danger's coming. I think you might need her more than I will."

This time, you understood, and you felt your heart melting.

"Oh, Diana..."

You threw your arms around her and hugged her, until the pup protested with a bark. Then, you let her go with a chuckle.

"Alright," you said, "although I have to point out that I can defend myself."

Diana laughed. "I know that," she said, her voice tender. You were her warrior.

But if she could add one protection around the person she loved the most in the world... She wouldn't miss the opportunity.
