Zane's POV

He's royalty!? I couldn't believe this, I have a necklace from a real merman! This is incredible...I need to tell Garroth and–Wait...why would that merman give this to me? I mean he must've meant to give it to me, it couldn't of just slipped into my pocked accidentally...did he want me to have it? I have so many questions...

"I need to see him again..soon." I muttered as I stared at the necklace in my hand. "But being more presentable looking wouldn't hurt I guess." I said as I set the necklace down on the sink counter and turned on the water, getting into the shower.

Travis' POV

I'm breathing heavily and coughing out bubbles that float up to the surface above me as I frantically swim into the depths of the ocean, back to the celestial, bright, underwater city that I call my home.

"Where's my father!?" I scream as I enter the gates, I gather strange stares from the town merpeople as I rush past everyone. At this point I'm practically pushing and shoving other mers out of the way in attempt to find my father.

"Stupid boy!" A fellow mer scolds at me with a harsh tone. I turn around to yell back at him but that's when I accidentally back into the chest of another merperson.

"Travis." A groggy, low voice spoke.

"What!!?" I screamed as I turned around and saw my father. "...D-uhh dad! Hey! I uhh...didn't..see ya there..." I chirped at him with a soft squeaky voice, he stared at me dead in the eyes and I gulped nervously.

"Take a look, son." He spoke as he waved slightly over to the path in which I came from. I turned around to see many merpeople on the cobble path floor and some market stands tipped over.

"You've always been clumsy and irresponsible Travis, but this is ridiculous..."

"I uh..just don't know my own strength?" My tail lowered with worry and I immediately brought it back up with excitement in my eyes. "Dad, I need to tell you something! I went–"

"Travis..not now, go help clean up those market and merchant carts and apologize to the mers."

"But this is important!–"

"Travis!" He scolds loudly, gaining attention from other mers. My head looks down as I nod and swim slowly to help clean up the village mers.

"He never listens to what I have to say..." I mumble quietly, frowning at myself as I pick up pieces of a broken vase that hit a rock too forcefully. I sigh and once the mess was almost cleaned up I got cut on my hand from a sharp piece of the vase that was sticking out, I cursed under my breath and growled. "I'm such a mess up, damn..." I complained as I finished cleaning up, ignoring the smell of blood coming from my hand.

Still Travis' POV

After the mess was cleaned up I swam back through the town slower, not wanting to bump into anyone, so I floated farther above the actual road. I rubbed my eyes tiredly as I reached for my neck to adjust my necklace. My eyes widened as I remembered I gave it to that human. I smiled to myself and I put my hand on my heart as my cheeks began to flush with a light pink.

"Lucinda was right, he's definitely the one." I muttered softly.

"I was right, huh? That's a first you've said that." I looked up to see the orange haired sorceherself.

"Heyyyy Lucy~" I sung to her gracefully as I swam around her.

"Hey casanova~" She giggles as she replies and grabs my hair, pulling me closer. "Sooo what'd he look like?" She asks, wonder sparked in her eyes. I smirk and sigh as I remember his face.

"Fluffy–soft looking–black hair, gorgeous blue eye, the other one I couldn't see since it was covered by his hair sadly, but then..he wore this mask, it was strange. Also he was awfully pale for living so close to that yellow warm orb in the sky." I answered, dozing off slightly, imagining him.

"Usually that yellow orb makes humans have tanner skin, that's unique...could it be genetics? I didn't read too far into human genetics yet."

"But it makes his black hair look so cute on him..." I sigh as I think more about this mysterious man.

"Do you even know his name? What even happened up there? My heart crystal said he's the one for you, but I'm curious on his personality as well." Lucinda spoke softly, her voice carrying a mysterious tone.

"Ah, well he uh....actually...I...don't know his name...b-but–! He did throw me back into the sea though! He was saving me~!"

"......Sure honey, sure."

"I'm sure he was! He stared at me with concern, I just know it..."

"Alright." Lucinda sighed and ran a hand though her hair. "Planning to go see him soon? After seeing you he might be curious to go back to see if you're there, but he might bring others if he thinks you might hurt him." Lucinda asked as I shook my head 'yes' immediately.

"Of course! This is my true love we're talking about!!" I yell in excitement.

"Travis, look, this heart crystal can be wrong. We've already done this several times and they've all been fails. Now that this crystal is saying your soul mate could be a human? I'm just not confident enough to agree that it's true. Humans are dangerous, Travis."

"Dangerous? Lucinda you're the one that's always said how they're not that bad, you went up against the king, my father, to tell him that humans are nice creatures like us!" I was getting slightly irritated now, why would Lucinda go against her own words that she believed were right? Lucinda sighed and looked at me with now worried eyes.

"Travis..I just don't want you getting hurt. Some merpeople are dangerous, some humans are dangerous. And this heart crystal has been wrong before with choosing your lover, your true soulmate."

"I'm just going to go back to see if he's there." I say as I start swimming away from the town; I look back and see Lucinda floating there, her orange hair waving as her face looks worried. "I'll be fine!" I yell back to her, but all she does is nod.

I swim faster, up to the surface. I soon get close to land and peek my head up. I can't see much since it's dark but I look around anyways. I swim closer to the shore, he's not here–wait, there's someone though. I back up, swishing my tail under the water in front of me to push me back. Who..is that...?

"Shhh, hey little guy~" The dark figure snickers, walking close to the shore.

"Who are you?" I'm getting scared now, but this could be him. But his voice is..different. I swim closer to the shore, squinting my eyes, trying to see who it is. He then runs up to me but I push back against the water but it's too late, he slid on his knees into the wet sand and grabbed me, pulling me out onto the sand. I cough and look up at him, my head resting in his lap as I stare at this human, "L-leave me alone, you're not him!" I yell, I try getting off his lap to crawl to the sea but he grabs my shoulders and holds me down.

"Shh, I'm a friend. My name's Gene..."
