Zane's POV

I mumbled sourly as I walked along the beach. My bottom half was dripping with salt water and I was most definitely not happy. Well, I guess sorta excited...I saw and spoke with a mermai-merman. I remember Garroth always being insane with these mermaid tales–tails too, he was fascinated by these creatures. But hardly anyone believed they existed. I eventually made my way to Garroth's hut and I knocked on the door. I waited for a couple seconds before I heard the sound of the unlocking door and the wood creak as the door slid open to reveal my older brother's fiancé, Laurance. Laurance smiled widely down on me, him being taller.

"Sup, nugget." He said with a smirk.

"Shut it, blowjob boy." I replied with a sassy tone and crossing my arms.

"How'd you know what I do on my Friday nights?" I laughed and pulled up my mask to hide my now forming smile. Laurance was a funny guy, but sweet, I'm glad he's in Garroth's life..all jokes aside. "So whatcha here for?" Laurance responded with a raised eyebrow.

"Is my brother here? I wanted to see him.." I said as the tone in my voice grew soft. Laurance must have noticed it because he offered me to come right inside, he also mentioned to me how cold it may be outside since it's past sunset. Laurance led me to the living room of their hut and that's where we found Garroth.

"Baby brother! Hello!" Garroth yelped as he stood up and was about to wrap his arms around me but he noticed my bottoms were wet. "Zane what happened?"

"I uhm...went for a swim."

"Uh-huh..." Garroth seemed unsure but nodded slowly.

"Garroth can I...stay the night here..." I spoke softly, I was ashamed almost of asking him this, I didn't want to be a bother.

"Of course, Zane, but is something wrong?" As Garroth said that it seemed that he had realized what happened, "Did you talk with mum and dad?" He asked quietly.

"...Yea.." I replied and nodded slowly. He leaned in and hugged me tight, embracing me with his warmth from his body.

"I'm so sorry Zane...I'm sure they'll warm back up eventually to you...but yes you can stay here for as long as you like."

"Thanks Garroth..it means a lot..." I hugged him back and sighed, I saw Laurance in the background smiling softly at us. "Also..I need to tell you something while it's fresh on my mind..."

"What's that?" Garroth questioned as he pulled away from the brotherly embrace.

"G-Garroth I saw something weird...while at the beach...on the far end of the island I was on the beach and..there was this splash and..and all of a sudden there was this fish–human...mermaid but boy...thing–"

"YOU SAW A MERMAN!?" Garroth screeched out at me, he grabbed my shoulders and shook me, "DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS!?" He yelled as he looked at Laurance who was standing in the background completely calm.

"It means your long years of studying merpeople are correct?" Laurance asked.

"NO! IT MEANS IM BETTER THAN MY PARENTS!" Garroth yelled and let go of me as he started laughing loudly and cheering with excitement. I even laughed at that, Garroth always wanted to be better than father but wow. Laurance was chuckling as he walked close to Garroth and hugged him from behind.

"Babe calm down–" Laurance started but Garroth pulled away and ran to his bedroom.

"What's he doing now?" I questioned Laurance as Laurance looked very disappointed.

"Did you want some? You horny basta–" I started but Laurance gave me a dead mans glare. I just chuckled and smirked.

"Found my papers!" Garroth cheered as he ran back into the living room with a couple notebooks, he sat on the bamboo chair and looked throughout the pages. "Baby brother, tell me, what did this merman look like..?"

"He had..long white hair. It was a little past his shoulders and he had bright green eyes with a matching green tail...the tail had scales that had other types of green in it too. Darks and lights." I answered, adjusting my mask as I was trying to remember anything else about his appearance.

"Did he have a necklace? Any accessories?"

"No..?"

"Hmm..." Garroth scratched his head and stared at his notebook pages as his eyes scanned the words written.

"Do merpeople wear accessories?" Laurance asked as he put a hand on Garroth's shoulder, looking down at the blonde man.

"Some do. But only royalty, other merpeople just make flower crowns and seaweed bracelets." Garroth answered, smiling, "So Zane if this merman you saw didn't have any jewels or accessories then he must not of been royalty, but it is weird that any merperson was just this close to land. I've known them to come out at dark but never at sunset, it's too dangerous for them if any person were to see them." Garroth explained thoroughly. I nodded, I did understand that. People are dangerous..not all are as understanding as Garroth would be when seeing a merperson.

"Yea.." I agreed with a nod then looked at Garroth and Laurance. "Can we discuss this tomorrow so I can shower? I smell like fish urine and saltwater." They chuckled and nodded as I walked to the bathroom, I shut the door and sighed as I began to undress. I threw my trunks on the ground and heard a clank. "What?" I questioned as I picked them up and felt a heavy weight, I reached in my left pocket of my trunks, nothing. I reached in the right pocket, there was a necklace. Made of seashells and aquatic jewelry.
