im scared of the dark
it suffocates you
and stains the world
in shades of gray
it hides your safety
conceals your smiles
in the colour of nothingness
and the dripping of oil
but im more scared
of the light
the brightness shines
on your flaws and mistakes
opens your chest to
vulnerability
and your secrets
spill on the pavement
light burns your eyes
and taints skin
the colour of blood
and anger
the dark and night
scare me sometimes
but the sunlight
sends shivers down my spine
