Frankie's POV
An hour or so later, Mikey finally stood and claimed he had errands to run. Reluctantly, Gerard agreed and said goodbye."Bye, Gerard." Mikey said lovingly from the doorway. "And-" -here he paused to give a long look at Frankie- "good talking to you." Then he disappeared into the hospitals corridors.
"Sorry," said Gerard sheepishly. "Mikey can be a little intense. Even though he still believes in unicorns," he muttered as an afterthought.
I noticed, Frankie thought. Well, not the unicorn bit.
"He wasn't really talking to you about a baseball game, was he?"
Frankie was forced to make a split second desicion.
He nodded and attempted a smile, his lips curling up at the corners. Gerard's fae lit up with a happy smile, cheeks slightly pink. Encouraged, he went on. "Okay, cool! You like baseball much?"
Frankie held up his palms and shook his head while shrugging a little, trying to say with gestures, eh, not really my thing. Gerard seemed to get it.
"I have cancer," Gerard confided. "If you don't mind me asking, what is it that you have?"
Frankie flinched, expression pained.
"It's okay, don't worry about it. We don't have to talk about it." Soothingly, Gerard reassured him. "If you're not ready to talk about it, you're not ready."
Surprised, Frankie looked at Gerard gratefully. He seemed to understand him and didn't press or pry, just accepted it with an unjudgemental nod. Thank you, Frankie wanted to say."Could you tell me your name?"
Frankie hesitated.
"No rush, no rush. Just when you're ready. So I can have something to call you by, can I call you Ray?"
Amused, Frankie nodded. They spent a long time "talking" and for the first time since his stay at the hospital, Frankie didn't think of suicide, or her.
A/n: oof. Hopefully this was shorter and therefore more bearable haha
