Ana

I really am truly an Idiot.

I should have known what I said would have affected him, I should not have said 'dear' and 'wolf' in the same sentence. I don't even think he heard the sarcasm I intended it with. His eyes darkened and he tensed, I could see a vein running down his neck, so very prominent. The hairs on my hands stood, great I had goosebumps.

I continued, cleared my throat and spoke out.

"Well, ain't gonna explain?" It sounded a little forced, but I needed him to stop looking at me like that.

He snapped out of his state and immediately looked anxious and I felt it easier to breathe again.

Urgh stupid mating bond, I hate being affected by him like this. How in god's name did my brother manage to ignore his mate for years when I can barely do it for a few hours?

"Right, so, werewolves." He muttered running one hand through his lush thick hair.

I did not want to run my hand through his hair like that, I did not.

"What would you like to know?" He sighs out.

"You were the one who wanted to explain, how am I supposed to know what you wanted to explain." I bite back.

"Okay, umm... let's start at the beginning I guess." He whispers out hesitantly.

He looks around and begins, "Werewolves like other creatures on the planet came up due to evolution and mutations, basic science but we believe that the Moon Goddess was the one who blessed a few humans with the gift to be able to shift into wolves because they appeased her. We have the same characteristics as wolves and men. We live in packs, follow a chain of command, wolves are slightly affected by the full moon, we are stronger on those days-"

And I cut him off. Now I have been alive for a long long time, and as important as it is that he not know, that I know what wolves are. I cannot take another wolf awkwardly explaining how their system works. I get it. I have to wolf brothers, but I knew how to explain the basic knowledge, books. There are a lot of books these days explaining the myths and legends of werewolves. Having gained quite a large audience in the past few years, humans love the mysterious and unknown.

"I get it, I have read enough books to know what werewolves are like. Alpha's, Beta's, Gamma's, Luna's, packs, rogues, mates and what not. I know the basics I don't need a rundown of it."

"Oh. Then, umm... I will tell you about the pack?" He questions me slowly.

I prevent myself from rolling my eyes and clasp my hands together. I like knowing things, I am very nosy in nature and while I would not go out of my way to get information, especially about supernatural creatures, it would be useful information in my specific skill set.

"Yeah sure." I clarify.

"We are the Night King's pack, one of the oldest in the world, it consists of thousands of wolves all spread out over a wide region going further north and east. We are currently in the inner boundary of the pack lands which are where most of the elders and higher ranking wolf warriors live. We are the largest pack in North America and I have been trying to keep my pack under order for years now-" Again I cut him off.

"What do you mean you kept order?" I ask I knew he is a high raking wolf. I wanted to know what his rank is.

He chuckled before he continued. Quite thrilled with my interest.

"If you didn't interrupt me, I was getting to it." He seemed like he wanted to say something else but thought better of it and continued. "I am the Alpha of this pack".
