Ana
I jumped into the car and slammed the door shut, absolutely furious. The same three wolves followed us from the second we stepped outside the house and the saying 'curiosity killed the cat' is so very true. When I got down to ask them as to why they were following us, I did not expect this. I really had no idea as too why they followed us around and I decided to find out why, oh my curiosity and all was fine till the stupid mutt touched my cheek.
He is my mate.
Fan-freaking-tastic.
Matt got in and opened his mouth to ask me a series of questions no doubt, but I turned and glares at him which shut him up. I ignored the warmth and tingles on the right side of my face. Instead, I worked on calming myself down by breathing slowly, bringing my heart rate down from whichever marathon it had decided to run.
I pricked my finger and started to draw small sigils around me to form my soundproof barrier. Before it completely came up, I turned to Matt.
"Drive slowly and take as much time as you can to get to the showroom, as long as I'm on the phone, don't stop at the showroom." I commanded and finished the final sigil of the barrier.
I knew there was only one person who would understand me at the moment, who would understand how much I hated how fast my heart beat and the warm blood flowing through my veins. My brother Jeb.
Jeb is my youngest brother, still older to me by a few years and we were inseparable. We grew up together and were insanely similar when it came to our feelings on a lot of topics, mates, for instance, was one of them. He is the Beta of Xan's pack, our second brother, and he is fantastically insane. He met his mate a few years back and God I feel sorry for that poor girl, he refuses to agree that she is his mate and may have driven her crazy.
He is also the only one who understands how I detested the idea of mates. He hates it more, so I pick up my phone and dial his number. I didn't have to wait for more than two rings to heard his smooth voice.
"Hey Nya, I was worried you were forgetting me." He feigned sadness over the phone.
I giggled but replied. "Hey Di, I missed you."
"Yea you would miss me less if you called." I could hear his eyes rolling.
"Jeb, I think I found my mate." I whispered.
This statement was followed by a heavy silence, neither my brother nor I wished this on each other.
"Are you sure?"
"Maybe, I mean he is a wolf and he has been following me from yesterday. The look in his gaze is just so... so intense and his presence is so overbearing, his smell is sensational, and he just touched my cheek and it was electrifying." I didn't realize how worked up I had gotten till my brother spoke through.
"Breathe baby girl, breathe. It sounds like he is your mate."
Again, there was a heavy silence that did not help me whatsoever.
"Can you leave? I know it will be hard but can you just disappear from there?" He finally asked.
"You really think I wouldn't have done that if I could"I chuckled. "I came here to help my friends and you know I don't go back on my word."
"Then just ignore him, do what I do. Push him away and keep him far, ignore every attempt and destroy every emotion that pops up in you. But you need to understand, it is not what you have to do. Whatever you want to do, I am at your side. Don't worry about your stupid mate."He sighed out.
