Ticket to Freedom

You ran back to your house, panting heavily, and out of breath. Despite your best efforts, Zora was just too quick. She was waiting for you at the door with a smile only a victor could have. You don't know how she beat you, but you knew she did. You told your parents about the journey, and was a little scared honestly, but when they supported the idea 100%, you felt okay with it. They even paid for your tickets to the Kanto region. Kanto actually sounded like a nice place, but you didn't reminisce on the moment too long. You told Zora the news, and she was so happy that she literally tackled you to the ground. After pulling yourself back up and packed for the day, you spent the night back in your room, resting a final time in your bed. Zora still didn't want to sleep in her pokéball, but you were fine with that. As you slept in your bed, you were awoken when you heard Zora crying. She was still asleep, she was just having that nightmare again. The nightmare of losing her parents on that day. The only thing you could do that would help calm her down was putting your arm around her. Normally, in reaction, she would try and hug you with her paws, but seeing as she has now evolved, she pretty much grabbed you and pulled you into her. You didn't move, mainly because you didn't want to be rude and wake her, but it was also a little part that you actually enjoyed being this close to Zora. She was your only friend after all, but was that really it? Just friends?

What am I thinking? You thought to yourself. We're just friends, and nothing's going to change- Zora shuffled in her sleep, putting her arm around your neck, and moaning slightly.

"(Y/n), please, don't ever leave me." Zora said in her sleep. You looked at Zora, then put your head on top of hers and gave a sigh.

"Don't worry Zora." You whispered quietly. "I won't leave you. Not now, not ever." You fell back asleep, still holding onto Zora. You awoke the following morning, still in the same position you fell asleep in. Zora was still asleep. Her tears ran dry, and she was sleeping peacefully. Looking at her face so calm, you couldn't help but brush the side of her head gently. She opened her eyes and looked at you. You pulled your hand back quickly. "Sorry, I didn't mean to wake you." Zora smiled and chuckled a little bit.

"I could wake up to see your face forever and not care at all." Zora said. You blushed a little bit, but sat up.

"I-I'm glad you had a good rest." You said. "Are you ready to get going?"

"I'm ready whenever you are." Zora said yawning.

"Then let's just make sure that we have everything we have before we leave for the airport." You said. Both of you climbed out of bed and checked everything that the two of you had packed. You had finished packing a lot sooner than you had expected yesterday. After making some last-minute calls, you were both finally ready to head on out to Kanto. Your parents took you to the airport, you gave a heart-warming farewell to them, then waited patiently for your plane. When it arrived, you boarded and sat down in your seat. Zora seemed happy being able to sit next to you. You were a bit happy as well, you were a little afraid you'd have to put her in her pokéball. You took the window seat, since that was your assigned ticket after all.

"So how long is this flight supposed to take?" Zora asked. You looked at the seat in front of you, which had a monitor on it, showing the destination.

"Well, according to this, it's supposed to take about three hours." You said.

"Three hours." Zora sighed. "This is going to be a long three hours."

"Hey, don't worry about it." You said. "Before you know it, it will be over."

"Well, I guess there is one benefit to this." Zora said.

"What's that?" You asked. Zora looked at you and smiled.

"I get to have three hours of being with you." Zora said. You could feel your face beginning to blush, you tried to turn away, but Zora brought her hand to your head and turned it back. "There's nothing to be afraid of anymore, remember?"
