After a trip to the Pokémon Center, you and Zora had made your way back to the Tower of Mastery. You were still concerned for Zora. Something wasn't right. While Zora was in her pokéball, you asked Nurse Joy if she could find something wrong with Zora. She assured you that there wasn't anything wrong with her. This should have comforted you, but the pain was coming back more frequently now. It seemed to happen every five minutes, and every five minutes, she would say she's okay. It was getting more frequent by the minute, which made it all the more worrisome. She insisted that she was fine. You wanted to argue, say this wasn't normal, but she was too adamant. You helped her to the Tower of Mastery, where the guru waited for you.

"Ah, (Y/n), you're back." The guru said. "I was told that you defeated my granddaughter at her gym. I commend you for that. Some people have a hard time defeating her." You smiled a little weakly. He noticed the hesitation. "Is something wrong?"

"I-" You caught yourself and looked at Zora. She was looking at you, practically pleading with you through her eyes not to tell him. After a sigh, you smiled, even if it was a little fake. "It's all good." He smiled, then motioned his hand to follow.

"Come, we'll get things finished up." He said. He started up the slope. Once he got up a certain distance, you looked back at Zora. When she looked back at you, she knew she was going to have to give a full explanation to you. This was happening way too frequent to be an accident. You gave a sigh and rubbed the side of her head. Now wasn't the time to get stressed about secrets. You pulled out Mawile's pokéball and tossed her out. You were going to need her for the battle at the top. As the three of you climbed up the ramp, the guru lead you up to the top until you came out to an balcony.

The opening gave a high view of Coumarine City. The sunlight was shining brightly without a cloud in the sky. Korrina was standing out a little ways on the balcony, looking at the city. The wind was gentle, blowing a cool breeze past everyone exposed to it. The guru turned around and faced you.

"Now, to succeed in this part, you must battle Korrina with only your Mawile." He said. "But you also have to battle her while your Mawile has Mega Evolved." He walked over to you and handed you a 'ring' that was more like a bracelet. "You will use this to activate the stone that your Mawile holds so that it may Mega Evolve." You scrunched your eyebrows together.

"Hold on, Mawile doesn't have a stone." You said.

"It doesn't have a Mawilite?" The guru asked confused. You shook your head.

"No... I got her just yesterday. I don't even know where to find-" Zora nudged you. "Zora?" She indicated down towards Mawile. Once she saw that you were looking at her, she took a step back. You turned your body to face Mawile and started to examine her. It didn't look like she was holding anything in her hands, so the only other place that you could think of would be... "Mawile, come here for a second." She took another step back. "Mawile..." Korrina had turned around to see what was going on.

"Grandpa Gurkinn, is something going on?" Korrina asked.

"Something's happening, that's for sure." He said. You took a step closer to Mawile, which made her back up a step.

"Come on Mawile, I'm not going to hurt you." You said calmly. Mawile looked at you a little angry, then folded her arms. You took another step forward, but she didn't. As you approached her, you walked to her horn and opened it up a little bit more. You saw something shining inside the horn. Despite the intimidation of the horn looking like a giant mouth, you reached inside with one hand to grab the item. As your hand went inside, the horn immediately clamped shut, closing your hand inside the horn. You flinched as you tried to pull away. "Mawile!!" Zora took a few steps forward to help you pull your hand out, but she stopped after taking the first step. Gurkinn saw Zora and went to help her. "Mawile, quit being so stubborn!"
