I didn't talk for the rest of dinner. I had so much tension built up within me, plus Damon and I making eye contact every five seconds wasn't helping at all. I look at the time on my phone and sigh.
"Mum, I've already missed the first support act can I please leave now." I finally speak up. All the boys had gone outside to smoke so it was just us ladies left inside. Mum looks at me with a defeated look.
"What show is that for?" I hear Jessica contribute. I turn to look at her.
"Buzzcocks." I smile and she returns with a bright grin.
"Damon's going there tonight!" She replies. "You could go with him" I hesitantly laugh in embarrassment.
"Who's going with who?" I hear a common voice approach behind me. I feel a pair of hands hold onto my chair. I try to hide my face, but right there and then I wanted to snarl.
"Buzzcocks! You could take Connie with you!" I watch as everyone else comes and sits down, Paul laughing at how uncomfortable I looked.
"That's a good idea!" Paul laughs, my mum slaps his shoulder.
"Well if you're still planning on going I'd leave now we have about an hour until they actually come on stage." I hear Damon say.
Mum's face lights up, "that's a good idea! You can make sure Connie gets home safe as well." I sink into my chair. You have got to be kidding me.
"Mum I will be fine-"
"Connie let's go then." Damon pull my jacket from underneath me and goes to the end of the table. "Thank you for dinner everyone."
"No problem Damon! Look after Connie though darling just like old times." My mum holds his arm for a second as he nods happily.
"See you later mum and dad, Jess." He waves as I slowly stand up in my seat dragging my feet away from the table.
"Bye!" I simply say in a sarcastic manor. Damon hands me my jacket and we walk out of the restaurant. The cold air hits my face as well as the regret of even mentioning I had a gig to get to.
"Connie cheer up, I'm not that bad." I look at him confused.
"I thought you hated anyone and everyone who was associated with the Gallagher's." He shrugs.
"You're the only exception though cause you're hot." He elbows my arm when I just glare at him. Walking down the street towards the tube felt like the longest walk of my entire life until I noticed a corner shop. Without speaking up I head towards the shop.
"Connie!" As I walk in the bells chime and the man sat by the tills looks up for a second. "Connie what are you doing?" Damon runs up to me as I study the alcohol sat behind the shelves. I ignore him and get out some money.
"Small bottle of the Smirnoff please." The man puts down his magazine and picks up the bottle to scan it.
"Why are you buying vodka?" He sounds like the Damon I used to know when I was 12 now.
"Calm your balls Albarn, I'm trying to actually make my night interesting."
"Have any ID?" The man asks, I nod and search my pockets for my ID, I hand it to him and then hand the cash. Damon impatiently walks around in a small circle. The man hands me my change and I shove it into my pocket as well as my ID.
"Thank you." I walk out the shop with Damon on my tail trying to unscrew the top of the bottle.
"Connie can you stop acting like a child please, I want to get along with you, you're my neighbour so we're going to have to at some point." I look up at him with no motivation to reply. I pull the cap off the bottle and take a swig making me cringe and shake my face.
"Dude you are not my fucking babysitter again, stop trying to be my friend cause it's no use." I pass him the vodka which he just stares at for a while.
The rest of the trip there was awkward, Damon had a bunch of useless attempts to make conversation with me on the tube. I didn't budge a lip.
When we got to the venue we had almost finished the vodka between us, I had lightened up a bit because of it. We got through the main entrance handing over our tickets and go to the bar. Damon kindly bought us both a beer each.
"Can you cheer up a bit now, beers aren't cheap in venues like this." He smiled widely at me.
"Sure, but we're still not friend so." I smirk. Just in that moment the lights turn down in the venue. Me and Damon both turn around to look out at the stage as the crowd are screaming. The beginning of 'Fast Cars' starts to play making energy rush over me. I chug down some of my beer and pull Damon towards the crowd with me where everyone is moshing and dancing. We both jump up and down to the beat some of our beer spilling over ourselves. Soon the song ends and we start to move to the beat of 'Are Everything'. I sing loudly.
"You're a good singer!" Damon yells.
"What?!" I stop dancing and look at him confused.
"You're really good at singing." I look at him funny. "I'm not kidding!"
"Uh huh!" I giggle and dance around feeling the alcohol dance me away into the centre of the crowd.
"London!" The crowd scream as Pete jumps around the stage. "How we feeling?!" I scream loudly looking over at Damon who's full attention is towards the stage. The light's drop once again. "You tried it just for once, you found it alright for kicks!" I chug down the rest of my beer as the excitement becomes too much for me to handle.
I dance around like a maniac, and I mean like a maniac because even Damon was telling me to calm down.
"Connie!" He laughs. "Calm your shit!" He grabs my shoulders trying to make me stand still, but I avert and grab his hands pulling them side to side encouraging him to dance with me. He continues to laugh at me pulling me into him so he's holding my shoulders down so I avoid hurting someone. "Stay like this." He calmly tells me putting his head on top of mine. I ignore him and continue to scream lyrics out towards the stage.
"Hey!" I hear a familiar voice call out but I keep me attention towards the band on stage. "Hey get off her!" Almost immediately after the voice yells I Damon pulled away from me. I turn around in drunk confusion and see a very blurry Liam holding Damon by the collar.
"Mate get off me! What the fuck is your problem!" Damon pushes him off and stares at him looking for an answer.
"You're the fucking problem dude why are you manhandling my girl!"
"Liam go away and stop trying to cause trouble!" I yell frustrated.
"How can you just fucking move on and leave me just like that! Especially for Albarn!" Liam turned to face me and I see Damon behind me looking smug thinking he had won again. "What is he your new boyfriend now!" Damon looks over at me worried as Liam comes closer to me.
"Liam I told you to fuck off, we were never together!" I cross my arms and watch as Liam becomes confused before Damon pulls him away.
"She said fuck off Gallagher." He says sternly looking angrily into Liam's eyes. Liam side eyes him before pushing him and walking away.
"Thank you." I cross my arms in annoyance.
"No problem, just looking out for you." Damon opens his arms out wait for a hug. I look at him a couple times before angrily pushing past him and stomping off.
"Wait!"
