(Phana's POV)

After he reads about Aether on the notebook, he asks me. "How do you summon a deity, P'Pha? Teach me. I want to see her."

"Don't rush, nong Yo." I heave a sigh.

"But..." Before he starts whining, I calm him down by explaining why he should not summon her now.

He wants to know the truth but I tell him that this is not the right time. If we summon Aether right now, my clan will know that there is a light magic user here in this university. I tell nong Yo that it's going to be the best option to summon her when we go to another neutral land where the Wizards Rumble is held. By doing that, my clan won't be able to find out who is the one summoning Aether because there will be students from all over the world in Wizards Rumble.

"I promise I'll tell you how to summon a deity, nong Yo. Just learn the basic spells for now, okay?"

"Okay..." He says as he flips the pages of the notebook.

While he reads the basic things about his element, I ask him questions that I haven't asked before. "What happened to Mauthe, nong Yo?" This question is one of them. I have been wondering about this for a while. "That dog was a dark elemental familiar before. How did the element change?"

He closes the book then looks at me with a confused look. "What do you mean 'how', P'Pha?"

The power to change an element is not the power that a human can use. "Did you change Mauthe's element?"

"Umm... I am not sure. It just happened."

There is no way something like that 'just happened'. "Did you wish for something before his element changed, nong Yo?" There must be a trigger.

He moves to sit in front of me to get a better position to talk while thinking of something. "I don't quite remember but... I did wish for something." He scratches his hair for a while then continues talking. "Mauthe was alone, P'Pha. I could relate to his loneliness and I wanted him to be like me. I have a new family after my parents left me. I wanted Mauthe to be in it too."

Light element, the power of hope.

Aether is the light deity who is said to use the power of hope. I have read in a book that Aether can change people's hearts by giving hope to them. It doesn't take me long to realize why nong Yo has that power. He is somehow connected to Aether. This explains why that deity came down to Earth just to soothe nong Yo's pain. There is something between Aether and nong Yo.

Is that the reason why nong Yo could change Mauthe's element? Because he has Aether's power? Knowing that he could change a familiar's element has made me wonder. Is it somehow possible to change a person's element, then? No way. I have never read anything about that before. I am a person who always seeks the truth. All these things are making me curious.

Well, the answers will come soon enough. Aether knows the truth and she is going to tell us but we will have to wait. Summoning her during the tournament is the best option to hide from my clan. No, it's the safest option.

"I see... thanks for answering. Continue reading the book, nong Yo. Let's practice your magic a little bit after you memorize these basic spells." I say to him as I open the page for him. This notebook will tell him how to use his magic well.

I did write this notebook myself. I was quite interested about the lost magic when the clan master told us about Aether Clan. During the past year, I studied about light element by reading books in my clan's territory and wrote it down on that notebook. I didn't expect that it'd be this useful for someone.

But wait.

It's not just from books. When I joined last year's tournament, I became close to the chancellor. That time, I was writing down some things while waiting for him in his office. When he entered the room, the chancellor found out I was writing about light magic and he corrected some things for me. He knew so many things about light magic as if he was a light magic user himself.
