"There's beauty in the bleeding." -Three Days Grace
"We've been searching out here for almost two hours and its getting dark," I complained, "and this is like the fifth time we've searched this part of the woods."
"Shut up Jackson," spat Henry Coleman, "we search until we find something or someone. If you want to be a coward and leave, be my guest."
And no one dared to leave or disagree with him. The thing about Henry was he intimidated the townspeople for no reason at all. Maybe it was his connections with the mayor or something. He was arrogant, feared and his blue eyes were alluring. No one could stand up to him, and I was going to change that.
Henry was just a couple months older than me. I had known him since high school, when we were pretty good friends. We had a falling out because he started his family and I just wasn't into that.
Henry had striking features such as his bold, blue eyes, which most ladies fell for. Henry had messy light shade of blonde hair and a peachy skin tone to compliment."I am not a coward. I don't know what your looking for, your dignity maybe, but it's not out here. So why don't we all just head back and get some sleep. It's five till midnight."
Henry stopped and turned around. Everyone stopped with him. I was surprised everyone didn't kiss the ground he walked on. He walked to where I was and was about a step away from me. I didn't back down as he got up, all in my face, he didn't scare me.
"Now you just wait one second and listen to me, Jackson," he remarked, giving me a light shove, "I don't know what your problem is with me, or this search party, but I am not gonna give up on this search just because you're scared. If you don't shut up I'll have to put you in your place like I did way back when. Remember?" He smirked.
This angered me, if he wanted to bring up our little scuffles that we got into in high school, fine by me. I just won't bring up how much he paid me to lose.
I glared at him and I could see the bystanders watching our conversation moving their heads back and forth like they were watching a tennis game.
"It's funny that you bring up high school, and our 'scuffles' I'm not sure you remember, but you basically paid me to lose. So I expose you because I don't need your money, I am not scared, and if you think you're just going to endanger everyone's life here just for your own 'reputation' well you've got another thing coming."
"I'll show you who I paid," he said as he balled up hand and struck it hard against the side of my face. I'll admit, it stung, but didn't stop me from fighting back. I took a step back and ran at him, my hands and arms flailing to hit this arrogant enemy of mine. He had the upper hand, being stronger and all. I got him off guard and had him against a tree. He gave me an angry look, but was still pinned, unable to break free. The bystanders looked at us, most of them surprised at what was going on.
"We are heading back, now. You can come back later on your own if you want to come find your pride." I insulted.
"A-alright! Fine. Let's go everyone." He growled.
Just as I was about to let him loose to lead us back to town, he was grabbed by a strong, unknown creature which sunk his teeth...or what looked like fangs deep into his neck. I couldn't quite make it out, but then again I turned in the other direction to avoid being eaten too. Henry let out a loud cry in pain. The freaking thing was drinking his blood! I panicked. What in the wide world drank human blood?! The answer 'vampires' screamed in my mind, but I pushed it back. There was no such thing.
As I ran, I was followed, but not by the people that were in the search party with me. They were new, creatures that looked at me with blood shot eyes, slowly surrounding me in a circle, in the center of town, as I helplessly looked at them.
They all had the same pale colored skin. They did not look neat or nice, like the vampire from Twilight. Oh no, these vampires looked hideous, they were messy. They might be newly bitten, so they're clothes they were wearing as humans, looked torn as signs of struggle. I didn't want to look at them any longer, but they inched toward me, closer and closer.
I searched my pockets for a possible weapon, I was out of luck. I prayed silently that I would go quickly, that it would be over soon.
"Here, catch!" a lifesaving voice called out as a pistole flew in the air and landed at my feet.
I grabbed it quickly and killed off six of the dangerous creatures. I shot a bullet between one of their eyes, another in the chest, and the others in their skulls. They slumped to the ground and I looked around for the voice or whoever had given me the gun. My eyes stopped on what appeared and I couldn't believe my eyes.
