the unexpected

unsuspecting

"Lilly, Eric wake up."
Lilly opens her eyes and see Adam standing there in the middle of the night.
"What is it Adam?" She says with a yawn
"Something is going on. I hear running in the halls."
Her eyes open wide and she rolls over to face Eric, "Eric wake up." She pushes him, "something is wrong."
He opens his eyes then shoots up, "what's happening?"
Adam looks at him scared, "there's running in the halls. I don't know why."
Eric gets out of bed and gets dressed. Lilly does the same. He heads for the door then looks at them, "you stay here. If something is wrong I don't want you two to get hurt."
He leaves the room.
"What's happening?" Adam says clinging o to Lilly, "I'm scared."
She looks down at him then back at the door, "I don't know." She grabs the bow and arrows off the armor rack in the changing room.
She cracks open the door and peeks out. The hall is empty. She slowly walks out and Adam stays closely behind her. She hears running down the hall and raises her bow. She sees a knight running to them. She lowers her bow and runs to the knight.
"What is going on?" She said sternly.
"Intruders," he said with a gasp.
"How many? Have you seen eric?" She looks at them then smells blood. Adam hugs her leg. She walks down the hall and peeks around the corner. Eric is talking to a man.
"What the hell is happening?" She says walking to them.
"There's an intruder, they killed 5 people so far."
Adam yells, "Who would kill anyone?"
They both look at him then back at eachother. Eric turns to the guard, "watch Adam and protect him no matter what."
He nods and escorts Adam away. They both starts running through the halls, the smell of blood gets stronger the more turns they take. Lilly stops and looks around.
"What is it?" Eric asks
" Something isn't right." She says quietly, "the smell of blood gets stronger and we haven't found them yet." She turns to a door. Eric looks at it and then the floor. Blood is coming out from behind it. They look at eachother and hold up their weapons. Eric opens the door and there's a man standing over 2 dead bodies. Lilly shoots her arrow at the figure and it screams. It dashes towards them. Eric slashes it's arm. It falls and starts shaking.
"Who are you?" He asks
"It's none of your concern." It says. The voice is deep but familiar. Lilly reaches for it them  and looks at it's face. It was Lilly's father.
Eric holds the sword to his neck.
"What are you doing here?" She asks pointing her bow at him.
"I wanted you back."
"Why didn't you just visit and not attack us?"
"I don't trust this place."
Lilly points her bow at his nose. Eric grabs her wrist and shakes his head. Knights run in and take him away. Lilly falls on her knees.
"It must be hard for you. You have to be strong." He kisses Lilly and carries her back to their chambers. She lays in her bed all night petting willow thinking back on what her father says. Eric rolls over and wraps his arms around Lilly.
" He will be charged for his actions."
She tenses to his words. He hugs her tighter.
"We don't have to If you don't want to."
She shakes her head, "no, he needs to be charged for what he has done."
She hugs him and starts to shiver. ' Am I really ready to see this?' She thinks to herself. Eric kisses her forehead. She nuzzles her head into his chiseled chest and falls asleep.
