It was a chilly october night, the frigid air brushed against your already cold skin causing you to shiver and tuck your face into your jacket in a desperate attempt to warm up. Maybe it was fate or just your reoccouring bad luck but seconds later rain had began to fall from the grey rolling clouds. The rain wouldn't bother you so much if it wasn't so cold. Usually you loved the rain, you found peace and solice in the sound of perfect droplets falling onto the imperfect world. You sighed , you could see your breath like smoke in the air. Few cars passed by you, it was late on a sunday night, most people were at home with their familes. You on the other hand had no home nor a family to return to. You had just broken up with your abusive boyfriend, it was a hard decision because despite him being physically and emotionally abusive, you were also living with him. So leaving him meant leaving your only means of survival, but you had reached the end of your rope, you'd rather be homeless, broke and alone than live in fear every second of every day. Suddenly you heard the sound of tires screeching on the pavement and the engine of a car reving up behind you. You quickly turned around and seen your ex speeding towards you. Immediately you started to run as fast as you could, but his car was faster he pulled infront of you cutting you off. Before you could process what was going on he had gotten out of the car. His face painted with anger oh so familiar. Your heart raced, all you could do now was brace yourself. You looked past your ex and seen the silhouettes of two people, looked like men, walking in your direction. The feeling of your ex grabbing the collar of your shirt pulled your attention back to the current situation. "You think you can leave me bitch?!" he spat, his fist slammed into your jaw, you fell to the ground. Rain water soaked through your clothes, though that was the last thing you were concerned about. "You have no where to go! You are nothing without me!" he declared again sending his boot into your ribs. You curled into a ball craddling the pulsing pain in your stomach. You groaned , he kicked you again this time in your head. Struggling to keep your eyes open, you looked around, everything was a blur. You heard quickening footsteps coming from behind your ex before hearing a physical struggle. "How dare you hurt her you pile of shit!" you heard a male voice yell in anger, you heard the sound of a fist on skin before seeing your ex fall to the floor the man continued punching him. It wasn't until now that you realized it was the two men that were walking toward you moments before. The other man had knelt down to you he was saying something but you couldn't make out the words. You could feel the warmth of blood flowing down your face. You felt weak like you were fading. You grasped the man's hand and with all the energy you had left you muttered "help...me". Everything went black.
When you woke up, things were still very blurry. You heard steady beeping and the sound of muffled conversation from outside the room. The ceiling was uncomfortably white, as were the walls and floors. You were in the hospital, memories from what happened flooded your mind as your vision cleared. A sudden sensation of pain engulfed your body. You groaned at the stinging on your face and deep pain in your ribs. The muffled conversation stopped, and a nurse walked in "(Y/N) your up" she smiled. You said nothing in reply.
"You have some visitors" she said again before facing the door. Two men walked in, you recognized them.
"Who are you?" you asked , your voice was weak and your mouth was dry.
"These two men brought you to the hospital, you were unconcious and covered in blood, you are lucky they found you" the nurse explained. You looked at the men, one was slightly taller than the other, had broad shoulders with defined muscles and pink hair that was buzzed on the sides. The other had a sweet face, with gentle yet bold eyes and smooth skin. Both stood there studying you.
"I remeber you" you said with a slight smile.
"You helped me....thank you.." you added, doing your best to smile. You tried to sit yourself up, pain blasted through your mid section.
"Oh, be careful, let me help" one of the men said stepping closer to you, helping you adjust your position, he gently slid a pillow behind you to comfortably prop you up.
"I'll give you a moment" the nurse said before swiftly walking out of the room. Silence hung over the room for a moment.
"We..we just came to make sure you were okay..." the taller one spoke.
"Thank you for helping me" you responded greatfully.
"Of course, how could we turn away from that?" the other said.
"I'm tyler" he added again.
"This is Josh" he introduced pointing to his friend.
"I'm (Y/N) " you responded. They both smiled happy to meet you.
Josh's smile faded quickly when he noticed you were trying to smile but couldn't without wincing.
"Who was that guy?" he asked , placing himself in the chair next to your hospital bed.
"That was my ex, hes an abusive asshole as you can see" you responded.
"Well, you might as well just forget him, you deserve better than that" Tyler said trying to be positive. You smiled, it had been a very long time since anyone had been nice to you let alone cared about you.
"The doctor says a few more days in the hospital and you'll be ready to go home" josh added with a hopeful smile. Your heart sank as you remembered you had nowhere to go.
"Whats the matter?" Tyler asked noticing the look on your heavily bruised face.
"I don't exactly have a home to go to" you admitted, you felt your cheeks burn hot with embarrassment. Josh and Tyler looked at each other as if having a silent conversation.
"Well... I know we just met and everything, but we have an extra room at our place, you could crash with us until you get back on your feet......just an idea" Josh offered sweetly. You felt butterflies in your stomach another sensation you haven't felt in ages.
"I wouldn't want to impose" you replied nervously.
"Oh no you wouldn't be imposing at all, it would be our pleasure" Tyler quickly reassured.
You thought for a moment, honestly you'd be an idiot to turn them down, you literally had no where else to go. You smiled and agreed to stay with them. Josh's eyes lit up with his smile.
Your smile faded again.
"There is one problem, all my clothes are at my exs apartment" you said looking at the blood stained clothes you had on. Tyler shrugged.
"We can get you new clothes" he smiled.
"And until then you can borrow some of our clothes, we will come back tomorrow with some fresh clothes for you" Josh stated.
"We wrote our numbers down, you can call or text if you need anything at all" he added handing you a small peice of paper. You took it and smiled at it, thinking for a moment.
"Why are you guys being so nice to me?" you asked looking back up at them.
"You seem like a good person who got stuck in a bad situation, we've been there before and we'd love to help you out (Y/N)" Tyler answered.
"Yeah, everything happens for a reason" Josh added smiling. You chuckled at their light hearted disposition.
"We have somewhere to be, but we'll be back tomorrow with some clothes and good food, the food here is a joke" Tyler reassured.
"Okay, see you guys later" you smiled. Josh waved as they left the hospital room. All you could do was smile , and now you just sat in silence.
