"I'm not even a real werewolf. And how can you look at me and love me? Don't I just remind you of everything bad about your brother?" Tao's third brother had been the one who'd turned her and in the process he'd forced his own siblings to turn against him.
"Audrey," Tao said, a chiding note in his voice. "How can you think that? You're just as much wolf as I am, and for the record, there were lots of folks in my home pack who didn't think I was a true werewolf either. If you're looking for me to have some sort of checklist as to who's real and who isn't, you're talking to the wrong guy." He came over to her and wrapped her in his arms. "And I love you because you smell like home. You're a piece of my heart that I didn't know I was missing. I don't think of my brother at all when I look at you."
"You don't?" She sniffed into his chest.
"No. He made you a wolf but his crimes are separate. At least in my mind. I know what he did to you was wrong, but I can't[...]"
