"She handed the box back to him. "You do it."
"That would be traditional, wouldn't it?" He took the ring out of the box and then slipped it onto her third finger. "I had to guess at the size. I hope it fits."
She held her breath until the ring slid home. "It's perfect." She looked at Tao, tears burning her eyes. "Thank you."
"I would do anything for you, Audrey." He took her hands in his and gazed into her eyes.
She stepped in close and wrapped her arms around him. "I know you would. And I would do anything for you." She hesitated. "I've cleared a space for you in the closet. It's all yours."
He chuckled. "You get the ring, I get some closet space? Is that how this works?"
She nodded into his chest. "Not as shiny as a diamond, but it's just as valuable."
He hugged her close. "I know it is, baby. Thank you."
She wanted to talk to him about the car insurance then, too, and perhaps wedding plans, but his mouth seized hers while his hands began to conquer her body once again and she decided it could wait.
