Harlie kneels behind me, holding the steaming curling iron in her left hand. Half of my hair is tied up at the top of my head awaiting its turn to be curled. I sit with my legs crossed, scrolling through twitter, favoring random funny tweets that I happen to stop on. The time on my phone reads four seventeen. A little over an hour until we have to leave.

"Harrison's coming over here right?" Harlie asks while taking out the rest of my hair.

"Yeah, he's really excited for tonight. Did I tell you what he did yesterday?" I ask, placing my phone down and looking at Harlie through the mirror.

"No, what?" She separates a piece of hair and twists it around the curling iron, holding it in place for a few seconds.

"Yesterday I walked into school and he gives me a huge greeting, entrapping me with his arm and stuff like that. So we talk about the party and when I'm about to leave, he pulls me back and kisses me!"

Harlie's hand stumbles with the curling iron, slightly burning the back of my head. "What?" She asks, looking like a worried parent.

"First of all, Ow! Second of all, I know!" I reply.

"Did you kiss him back?" She asks, continuing with my hair.

"Well... I actually don't know."

"You don't know?" She sounds concerned.

"Well I think it was more of me just freezing in place and not moving." I reply.

"So you just let him kiss you?" She finishes with the last piece of hair.

"You could say that..." I look down.

"Did Cole see the kiss?" She asks, unplugging the curling iron.

"Not that I know of," I reply.

"Shame..." She scooches over to my left, and grabs a few strands of hair, beginning a waterfall braid.

"Anyways... Harrison then said something about that kiss being a preview of what's to come." I roll my eyes.

"Does that mean he's gonna kiss you tonight?"

"I mean he'll probably try that and then some but I think the only thing I'm doing with him tonight is dance."

"You know, you could get Cole super jealous if you kiss Harrison," Harlie points out, moving over a little to continue the braid.

"No, I actually think I could push Cole even further into Winnie's arms if I do that!" I reply, matter-of-factly.

"Well fine then. Don't listen to me." She huffs, clipping my hair into place. She scrunches my hair with her hand I flip it a little. "Ready for make up?" She asks. I nod, smiling. "Alright, face me." She dabs on my concealer and wipes on other shades of makeup. She forces me to close my eyes until she's finish and whenever I attempt to speak, she shushes me.

Harlie leaves and returns to my face for ten minutes straight, working on my eyes, my cheeks, and even my lips. Once I don't feel anything on my face for a certain period of time, I ask, "Can I look now?"

"Yes!" Harlie breathes.

I open my eyes and look over into the mirror, seeing a beautiful blonde staring back at me "Woah," I say, blinking. Harlie had given my eyes a golden smoky look to them and painted my lips with a burgundy color. "Harlie... this is amazing!" I turn to her, throwing my arms around her neck.

"Don't thank me, thank YouTube!" I pull away from her and she holds up her phone, showing me a girl with the exact same eyeshadow on, as me. "I wanted to make you look good." She says.
