I'm forced to go to class and actually listen to my teacher talk about the final some of the students had to take. I had gotten a B in the class so I was excused and given a study that day, the exact study I had with Cole. Even though I didn't take it, the teacher feels the need for me to be here. It was boring as hell, I didn't even know what question people were referencing when they asked a question. The clock seemed to be moving at the same pace as a sloth. I wonder how time can fly for others while it goes so slowly for me.
When the bell finally rings I'm reminded that it's only second period and I had several more classes to suffer through. My next class, my teacher was so nice as to allow me to go to the library while she discussed the final. When I walk through the smudged glass doors of the book filled gathering space, I scan the room for a seat and my eyes are pulled to movement to my right. A boy with black hair stands out of his seat and waves his hand at me, shouting my name, "Hey, Audrey!" His casual tight t-shirt distracts me as he walks towards me. His abs are literally screaming "LOOK AT ME!" No wonder I dated him before.
He's hushed as he approaches me and swings an arm around my shoulder. "There's my disaster date!"
"Hey Harrison. What are you doing in the library?" I ask as I follow him back to where he was sitting.
"I was sent here for a study. How about you?"
"Same reason." I state, placing my bag on the floor and taking a seat at the circular table between Harrison and Winston. "Still planning for the party?" I ask looking over at what Winston was writing.
"Yeah, he's been working on this farewell speech to give at the party but I doubt he'll even remember to give it." Harrison tells me.
Winston pipes up, "It's my farewell address."
"What are you, the president?" Harrison jokes.
"Actually, yes. The president of the school, that is."
"Really?"
"Yes. I feel that's it's my obligation to leave my lovely school and great subjects with a few words of Winston wisdom."
"Winston wisdom? Really?" Harrison questions, raising his eyebrows disbelievingly.
"Don't look at me like that! You just don't understand."
"Of course I don't." Harrison mumbles.
They go silent after that and I pull out my laptop to go over my social sciences presentation. As I open the slide show I see Harrison lean over and look incredibly confused. "What are you doing?" He asks.
"Umm work." I answer.
"What? But it's the end of the year and you're a senior!"
"So?"
"What's it for?"
"Social sciences. It's my final project."
Harrison winces as if he were in pain, "Ugh, projects are the worst."
"Sure..."
"Good luck with that." He turns to his phone and unlocks it. I get a glimpse of the picture on his lock screen. It was two people standing together but that's all I knew. I felt the urge to push off working on my project so I lean over and ask, "What's your lock screen picture?"
"Huh?"
I reach over and lock his phone, immediately pressing the home button after. There appears a picture of two young boys, one with dark tan skin and a huge smile painted on his face, holding his friend's hand up in the air beside him. The other boy had a small freckled face and dark bangs that hung in front of his eyes. He looked in the direction of his friend and had an openmouthed smile. They were both dressed in some sports uniform and had dirt all over them, probably from the game.
