Blinded by Love (Malec AU)

Chapter 3

MAGNUS

Soon after our encounter, Alec tells me he wants to introduce me to someone.

This someone is a tall girl with dark hair like Alec's and chocolate brown eyes. "Who is this, Alec?" she asks, eyeing me cautiously.
"This is Magnus Bane. He's new here, but he helped protect me from Jace," Alec says.
He turns towards me. "Magnus, this is my sister Isabelle," he explains.

Isabelle sticks out her hand. "You're alright in my book for protecting my brother," she states. I shake her hand.

I mostly follow the two around for the day. They give me helpful tips of who to talk to and who to avoid. On the latter, Jace and his friends are obviously at the top of that list.

Someone I can talk to is introduced to me at lunch. She's a short girl with wild, curly red hair and green eyes. She has an anime t-shirt on, and is carrying a sketchbook and a pack of pencils under her arm.
Her name is Clary, I'm told.

"Clary, this is Magnus Bane. He's new here, but he stood up against Jace and his gang for Alec, so he's cool," Isabelle announces as a way of introducing us. Clary smiles at me shyly. "Hi, Magnus Bane."

Another person that's okay is Clary's best friend, Simon. He has brown hair that curls around his temples, and big brown eyes framed by glasses. I can almost see the aura of nerd around him.

Isabelle uses the same method of introduction, and he says "hello, Magnus Bane" in response.

As the five of us sit down at a table, we're immediately surrounded by a group of burly looking boys, one of them being Jace. He strides to the front of the group and looks at us, smirking.

"Aw, look, it's the geek group. I see you've joined them, Bane," he sneers.

"Yeah, so?" I retort.

Jace snorts. "If you want to have an easier time in this school, I suggest you ditch these losers. Plus those clothes," he adds, eyeing me carefully.

"No," I say.
"Excuse me?"
"Did I stutter?"

Alec turns to me, as do all the others, looking stunned. I guess it's unusual to stand up to Jace in this group.

Jace raises one eyebrow. "Well, I guess it's your choice. You can hang out with your little gay friends, but don't expect us to go easy on you," he warns.

I shrug, acting like he doesn't bother me. "Go ahead. Go all out, I don't care."

Jace laughs. "I like you, fag. Lets go, guys." He motions for his "friends" to follow him away, and they do.

"Wow!" Alec exclaims, smiling.
I can't help but smile back. He's so cute.

"You're good at that," Clary adds quietly.

"I mark you an official member of our group," Isabelle announces, "Welcome, Magnus Bane."

Clary and Simon repeat after her:
"Welcome, Magnus Bane."
