If Only

If i could turn back the hands of time,
It would bring me back to you,
A harsh reality to face,
Yearning for the one who was never mine to lose.

We may have had it all,
Or so it seemed,
Drowned by the demons of your past,
You said i was your calm in a chaotic world.

Made me feel so beautiful,
But oh so vulnerable,
When it all came to a halt,
I could not bear the thought.

Wanted to loathe all that you were,
It only made me love you more,
Striving to contain what was long gone,
You had the last laugh.
