Getting past Andre proved to be the hardest part of sneaking out. Getting the car was close second but luckily, it hadn't been moved from when we got home from school. I managed to get to Archie's house without any trouble.

To my surprise, he and Betty exited her house and climbed in the car, both rushing to put on their seatbelts.

I glanced at them. "Someone wanna inform me on what's happening?"

"Long story short, the Black Hood kidnapped Mr. Svenson and is holding him hostage until we find the place the original sin was committed. We're thinking the Sisters of Quiet Mercy might have some answers on to what Mr. Svenson went through when he was younger," Archie rushed.

I blinked twice. "Sounds like an adventure. Let's do it."

I saw Betty breathe a sigh of relief in the backseat as I started plugging our destination into the GPS. Archie leaned back against his seat, running a hand through his messy hair. They were obviously stressed out with what was going on involving the Black Hood.

Soon enough, we were meeting with one of the head sisters in her office. I was in between my friends as we sat in the dark room. It was creepy, as usual.

"Joseph Conway, Joseph Svenson, as you know him, was a troubled youth. There was no saving him." Sister Woodhouse kept her voice low as she spoke.

"Meaning he was a sinner?" Archie interrupted.

"No, he was a child, a victim." She shook her head, taken back by the question.

Betty jumped in before Sister Woodhouse had a chance to speak. "Did he suffer from survivor's guilt?"

I kicked her chair. We had talked about asking questions, not leading an interrogation against an innocent woman. I for one, didn't want to bombard her with questions she had no intention of answering. That never went over well.

I looked over my shoulder to see another nun listening in, a haunting look to her face. My hand gripped Archie's arm. This place is terrifying.

"I've already said too much." The woman in front of us stood to leave.

"No!" Betty held up a hand as Archie tried to talk her out of it. The blonde kept her game face on. "Sister Woodhouse, when my sister escaped this dungeon, she told me all about the corporeal punishment. So please, help us with this or I'll expose the Sisters of Quiet Mercy for the house of horrors that it really is." The look in Betty's eyes was taunting, as if she was challenging the woman to go against her words.

Sister Woodhouse sighed, "After his family was massacred, young Conway, young Svenson, identified the man responsible. Then a small group of Riverdale's citizens took matters into their own hands and, well, executed him. It was only later when he was with us, that Joseph admitted that in his shock and terror, he may have pointed a finger of accusation..."
