"Come with me if you want to live" said the mysterious voice. They reached out their hand. I couldn't tell who, or what it was. I hesitated for a moment then it pulled me out of the water. I was so distracted by the men in military uniforms and gas masks that the person was practically dragging me across the grass. I got up and followed to the gym. The sun was bright and shining. The heat was quickly drying my clothes. Before we continued I pulled the stranger aside and asked. "Who are you?"
"I'm a student here at priory...from the future. The name's Jonah."
"From the future?"
"Yeah, just come on I'll explain later." We slipped through the back of the school. It was quiet...too quiet. He picked up a backpack and tossed it over his back then handed me mine. "How did you-" I started, but was interrupted by the bell ringing. Students rushed out of the classrooms and the hallways became filled with chatter. I followed Jonah through the halls. First we passed by the 200s. Mr. O'Connell waved and smiled at me as I walked by, I returned the gesture. Mr. Bussen was shouting "Good day!" as students exited his class. When we got to the landing I heard some of my friends in my AP Bio class asking when was the test. We sat at one of the tables in the landing and I waited for him to explain. I wasn't going to do anything else until he explained what was going on.
"Explain." I barked.
"The pond, is not what you think it is." He scanned the room looking for any suspicious people then leaned forward and whispered. "The pond is actually a portal. When the monks first came here and started Priory they knew about it, but they had no way to fix it. To cover it up they built a pond over it. All the monks are in on it, some of the faculty, even some of the police officers are in on it."
Part of me didn't care because it was my senior year, and I was about to leave. But I couldn't leave Priory in this condition, what if it could get worse?
"So why are you here, and from the future?" I asked
"Five years from now, a student falls in the pond after trying to walk on it when it was frozen. He fell in and never came out. His body was never found. The pond began expanding and pulling things in to the otherside. In my future the portals are popping up everywhere and taking over the planet, and it all started here. There's only one person I know who can help, c'mon."
I followed him past the lobby and he kept looking around like he's never seen this before. "It's different here, so old." he said. We walked down to Mr. Orlando's classroom. The bell had already rung and he had no students in his classroom. Jonah knocked three times, then paused, another knock, a pause, then two more knocks. Mr. Orlando peeked out of the door then opened.
"Yo, what's going on dude?" he said.
"Gather the team, we're ready to t move." said Jonah.
"It's happening sooner than we thought, the pond is replacing people here. Mr. Bussen
and Suarez just became friends, how do I know it's really you? What year did I graduate from Priory.
"Um..." said Jonah, "Nineteen...." he looked over at me. "Nineteen...."
