"Nineteen-ninety-nine?" I said.
"Ok, you guys are cool to come in." Mr. Orlando held the door open as we walked in. "You guys missed it, some of those demi-dogs came out of the pond and I slew them like a boss."
I sat down at a desk processing the things that had just happened. Jonah, Mr, Orlando. Who else could know? Jonah and Mr. Orlando talked for a moment. They were bring out crates and laid them across the floor, then used a crowbar to open them. I didn't bother to help. Once they were all open I took a breath of shock as I saw what was in them. Weapons. Jonah picked them up and showed them to me. "Handaxes, hand cannons, laser swords, blaster rifles, I brought a lot of stuff back with me. And the classic bat with barbed wire. I call her Lucille" Jonah smiled at it.
"Do we even have a plan of attack? I'm not prepared to kill a demi-dog. I don't even know how to use a hand cannon, or whatever it is. I am the last person you want to help you with this!" I shouted. Then some students and teachers walked in talking and picking up a weapon. No one heard me. "Hello!?" I shouted. "Are you even listening to me?" I sighed. Brian Koch, Dr. Rashford, Mr. Niemann, Nate Abad, and other picked up a weapon.
School was almost over, there was only a few minutes until 3pm. The crowd talked and prepared themselves for what was about to happen. Jonah came over to me to check on me. "Here," he said, and handed me an axe, "Use it wisely."
I took it, then Jonah walked to the front of the classroom. Mr. Orlando and Mr. Niemann carried out a device and laid it on the table and covered it with a sheet. I couldn't make out what it was.
"May I have your attention please," said Jonah "Thank you all for coming. We've gone over the plan many times, and we all know out positions. The only entrance is through the pond. You all know who you are that are guarding it when the students leave. The rest of you will follow me in as we plant the device to close it. There is only one flaw. One of us will have to stay behind. That will be me."
"Wait, what?!" I exclaimed.
"Yes, It's logical, because if I stay behind and detonate the device then the timeline of me coming back won't happen, and this this version of me will vanish."
The others seemed to agree, reluctantly. Others tried to offer different solutions, but no matter what, in the end this version of Jonah will vanish. It took us an hour to accept the fact that Jonah will not make it to the end.
That evening we marched out to the pond. It was dark, we barely had any light. When we reached the pond they spread out in a circle round the pond to attack anything that came out. I was going in with Jonah, and a few other students. The device was shoved in a backpack and Jonah wore it on his back. He had Lucille in hand, and I had an ax. I took some football gear from the gym because I didn't know what to expect. (Sorry Mr. Combs, and Mr. Parent, I'll return it later...). One by one we hoped in the water and swam to the upside down. I passed by a demi-dog who shot up out of the water. When we reached the upside down there was a swarm of demi-dogs coming towards us. "I gotta bad feeling about this." I said.
