A/N
This is a modern AU fic where both Rey and Kylo are working for the FBI as undercover agents. Kylo is on a mission tracking a suspect.

The dark figure ahead of me turns into an alleyway up ahead. It's close to 6:00 now, and almost no one is walking the lit streets. I should get home. Rey probably already cooked dinner, I think.

I sigh knowing I have to finish this job. I speed up to catch him in the alley. I look back to make sure no one is watching as I turn the corner.

That was a bad idea. A sharp pain shoots through me and I look down to see a steel knife pressed into my stomach.

"Not today," the man in front of me hisses before taking his knife and running down the alleyway.

I gasp as I start to collapse to the ground. I am barely able to catch my self before I reach the concrete. Slowly I slide myself back against the alley wall. I've already lost so much blood, and in an attempt to stop the flow I press my hand over the gaping wound.

But it's already too late. Even if I were able to call out for help they wouldn't be able to save me in time. I knew I only had a small amount of time left. I take out my phone and dial her number.

She answers almost immediately. "Hey Ben! Are you almost done with that job?" Rey asks. She sounds happy.

"You could say that," I say trying my best to match her tone. "What are you doing?"

"I'm reading the book you gave me," she replies casually. I wish I could see her.

"Do you like it so far?" I ask looking down at the blood starting to trickle through my fingers. I don't have a lot of time left.

"It's- it's good," she says slowly. I can almost see her worried look. "Are you okay?"

"I love you," I say barely able to choke out the words, but I have to say it at least one last time.

I can hear her spring up from the bed. "Ben what happened? Where are you? Ben please just-" she cries and I can hear her crying on the other side of the screen.

"It's okay," I shush her. I don't want our last moments to be spent in sadness. "I love you okay, and that's all that matters. Don't ever forget that Rey. I just- I just love you. So, so much."

She's still crying but I can hear her saying those three words over and over again. Her crying stops for a bit and it's only silence as I feel my breathing start to slow.

She knows I'm slipping and she chooses her next words carefully knowing they'll be our last. I can see her with her hand on her head in bed a red rim around her eyes.

"You were going to be a daddy."
