It's her first day of college, she walked slowly with her rush group going to different sororities. She wasn't really interested in any of this she was just trying to find her place in University. When she was in high school she had no clique or anything just a set of friends or acquaintances. They passed the fraternities where the boys held up numbers for the level of hotness each girl had she was too afraid to look.

"Hey chocolate." Someone yelled from across the street but she tried to ignore. Of course they were referring to her, she was the only black girl in the group.

"Hey I think that guy is talking to you." Stacy a chirpy blonde girl said to her. They had clicked from orientation she was a legacy but she wanted to join her own house without the assistance of her mother. "Go talk to him." She nudged.

"Ha funny this house sounds interesting let's listen." She said trying to change the conversation.

"Lies these are tree huggers, not going to happen." She was rolling her eyes.

"I just love nature." She said as perkily as possible.

"Just go over and talk." She pushed her and she staggered losing her footing. She fell backwards scrapping her elbows. "Jada I'm so sorry." She said rushing to help her but someone already had their arm around her helping her up.

"It's okay." Jada said as the strong hands helped her up. She stood up fully now turning to thank her helper. "Thanks." She squinted her eyes to get a better look at him. He was about 6'4 dirty blonde hair, chiselled cheekbones, great red lips, green eyes with flecks of gold and he was white. Stacy stood beside her admiring him not realizing that the group had moved on without them.

"No problem I was coming over to talk to you anyways." He smiled, really nice teeth and minty fresh breath.

"Oh." She stepped back for him and Stacy to have a moment.

"He doesn't mean me you goof." Stacy again pushes her forward like an offering. She feels the sting on her elbow and reaches around feeling it and looking at the blood on her hands. "Oh man." Stacy says wincing at the sight of the blood.

"Hey come over to the house I can take care of that." He holds her hand in his arm and she pulled Stacy along. Should she really go over there so many things could happen. She thought to herself. They entered the front yard and the boys smiled at her.

"Hey chocolate." They said as she passed them. Were they saying chocolate because they were afraid of saying black and not getting punched in the face?

They entered the house and inside was downright beautiful and clean. She'd been used to the surrounding of boys she had a bigger brother Justin who wasn't the cleanest person she knew. He had his clothes everywhere and his room had a certain funk that she hated. They continued up the spiral stairs and into a large room with a huge bed and a few business books that looked tattered from over reading and marking on the floor.

"Girl I can't." Stacy said and Jada looked at her suspiciously. "I can't stand the sight of blood." She said as we stopped in the bathroom.

"Stay please." She whispered.

"I would but blood and I don't go hand in hand." She said and left as Jada opened her mouth to protest. Traitor. She thought.

"I won't rape you." He joked and she cracked a small smile. "I'm Connor." He smiled at her.

"Jada." She said as he gestured her to sit on the edge of the tub while he knelt in front of her and cleaned the wound.

"So have you decided which house you're going to join?" He asked.

"I'm not going to join any, I was just considering it. I wouldn't fit in just one house." She smiled a little nervous.

"That unique." He smirked.

"Not really unique I like a bit of everything." She winced as the peroxide touched her elbow.

"Well I say stay in your dorms then." He focused hard on what he was doing. "So what's your major?" he asked.

"Chemistry and a Minor in Biology." She said, it probably sounded nerdy to him.

"That sounds cool." He smiled.

"What's your major?" She asked as he began bandaging the cut.

"Business." He said.

"You want to start your own business?" She asked.

"Yes." He smiled.

"What would be about? If you don't mind me asking." She said hurriedly.

"My father is a doctor and well soon he'll be retiring and I want to have a chain of his hospitals all over the world so that even the poorest of people can afford health care. I want to make a difference." He sounded passionate about this and she smiled because she liked hearing about people's passion. "My major isn't only business it's also pre-med it's a bit demanding but it counts in the end."

"That's really nice. You're passionate about the livelihood of others." She smiled as he finally let go of my arm. "You're girlfriend and family must be proud." She stood.

"My family is proud but I don't have a girlfriend." He winked and she looked away.

"Well I must get going." She said looking down at her foot.

"How can I get in touch with you?" He asked.

"That's not a good idea." She said nervously.

"Why not?" He asked confused.

"It's just not." She said unable to look at him. Her parents would not approve of her dating a white person, they said they just seek to oppress blacks again. It reminded them of slavery and even though she wanted to tell them that things and times have changed she always kept quiet and tuned them out.

"Is it because I'm white?" He asked.

"Well yes and no." She answered slowly.

"How is it yes and no?" He asked.

"You seem really nice but my parents have this thing against us dating out of our race. They get pissed and they are the one's paying for college and..." She trailed.

"Your parent's would love me." He tilted her head up and stared in her eyes and she felt her heart tattooing her chest.

"I don't think so." She moved her head away and paid attention to the floor.

"Since you won't date a white guy, how about we be friends?" he asked hopefully.

"Yes I can do friends." She smiled.

"Good that you said that because I already told everybody in this house that I'm going to marry you." We started out his room.

"That's very pretentious of you." She said beside him.

"It's the truth you and I will be husband and wife I feel it." He said and his face was serious no evidence of humour.

"You're funny." She said reaching close to Stacy who was in an animated conversation with a few of the frat boys. They all seemed smart and not exactly what television had depicted them as. A young man came up to Connor and she slid away from beside him to get Stacy and tell her it's time to go.

"The new pledges are here." Connor announced to the group and they got up ready for business.

"Bye chocolate." A few of them said smiling at her and Stacy.

"Good bye." The girls said about to leave the house, but before they could leave Connor stopped Jada spun her around and her hair bounced. He planted his lips on hers and her heart had made a tattoo on her chest. She actually kissed him back before he moved away.

"See you tomorrow 'friend'." He smirked and walked away. Leaving her in a whirlwind of emotions. Stacy tugged her and they were off to their dorm talking about the guys Stacy spoke to, but Jada's mind was only on Connor.
