Connor should be home by now. She thought. She had been waiting up for him to celebrate their good news. She looked over at the clock seven thirty it said. She had given the maids the night off and cooked for her husband. The door bell rung and she felt giddy and got up too fast and stumbled she regained her balance he didnt normally ring the doorbell. She brushed her hands over her dress and opened the door with a smile.

Holy shit. She slammed the door. Oh my God, oh my God. She began panicking she didnt know what to do she reached for the phone. She dialled the back houses number.

Hello. She said rushed.

Mrs. Jepson is something wrong? Albert the house butler asked.

Yes. I need all of you here now please. Panic in her voice.

We are on our way. He said.

The doorbell wrung again and she yelled. Give me a minute!

The house staff came in they were all prepared for bed. She was having a panic attack she couldnt even tell them what was happening. Albert looked through the peep hole and he got everyone in motion getting rid of the evidence of marriage.

Maam in your state you should sit. He ushered her to the set of couches, he went away and came back with water. Just count to a hundred. He told her and she was counting the bell rung again and she felt like passing out.

We are done. The staff came back all out of breath. She gave them a weak thumbs up and she stood holding her baby bump.

Im good thanks Albert. She said and headed to the door taking one last deep breath. She opened the door. Hi guys. She plastered a smile.

Jada you have lost your damn mind! her mother was furious.

Come in. She ushered them in.

This house is really nice. Justin her older brother said.

Thanks. She said closing the door. She pulled back Kadian harshly. The hell! She whisper yelled.

Im sorry I was told we were going to visit someone and we ended up here. She said quickly.

They brought Jeremy, why? She hissed.

They said that you and Jeremy would make great babies and that he was single. She had a sad look on her face towards her sister.

Connor will be home soon. She ran her hand through her curls.

Im so sorry. She apologized.

Lets get inside before they start getting their noses into my things. They walked around to find the family sitting in the couch. Why are you guys here? She asked.

Since you couldnt come home for thanksgiving we brought it here to you. My mother said.

So you havent seen youre old man in two years and you dont hug him. Her father said and she made her way towards him and he embraced her in a tight hug. What a time to be pregnant.

It would look almost as if she wasnt happy to see us, the way she slammed the door in our faces. Justin chipped in.

We dont expect our own to treat us like how the whites do. Her mother said and she bowed her head. Where did you get the money to afford this place? She asked.

I share it with someone. She hadnt lied.

I smell food. Jeremy said and she wanted to claw off his face she had always hated him.

I made dinner. She said trying to hide her glare. Her phone vibrated and she answered.

I cant make it home. He said.

Thank God. She sighed in relief.

Well dont sound so disappointed. He said.

No my family is here. She whispered.

Really? Did you tell them? he was excited.

No they showed up for thanksgiving. She continued whispering.

Thats great you can finally tell them. He said hopefully and she chewed her lip.

Its not the right time. She said but he wasnt having it.

You are going to tell them because I am coming home tomorrow and Im sleeping with my wife. He was enraged and he hung up. She pressed the phone against her chest and sighed. She plastered a smile and went back to her family who was now eating her cooked meal.

Her mother looked up and smiled. Jade, Jeremy is still single. She suggested, she looked over at Jeremy with disdain she tried to control her facial emotions. She and Jeremy had history and it wasnt good.

And? she asked.

Your tight little body isnt always going to remain tight and right. She continued and Jada rolled her eyes. Jeremy is a lawyer. She smiled proudly.

I dont care. She said. Her mother was always trying to set her up with somebody.

You have to care you need a good black man. She said and Jada wanted to puke.

Momma get off the girls back. Kadian chipped in trying to save her sister.

Shut up Kadian. Her mother said.

Suppose she doesnt want a black man. Kadian said.

Thats ludacris. Her father said.

Slavery has been abolished years ago. Let it go. Kadian was the one who stood up and she didnt really care what they had to say.

It still stings like it happened yesterday. Their father said.

None of you were born in that time. Kadian rolled her eyes. Kadian never really got along with their parents she was head strong. Jada tell them before your house burns down. Kadian said.

Tell us what? her parents asked in unison. The room was quite she didnt want to tell them that she was married to a white man or that she was pregnant so she did the next thing that might interest them.

The house has white servants. She blurted and Kadian shook her head and walked away. Wimp.

Thats good Jade give them a taste of their own medicine. Her father applaud her. She gave them a tour of the house but never going upstairs they all had a room downstairs to their comfort. She made her way to bed stripping and looking at her baby bump. She was in deep shit.
