Jada sat at her vanity mirror applying her make up as she prepared to go to work. Connor was in the shower getting himself ready for work too. She had to leave the house if she stayed with her parents and Jeremy she might just lose her mind. She worked in a lab that developed skin care soaps and scrubs it wasnt what she had initially planned to do with her life but she didnt hate it. It was her way of helping she made peoples skin look good. She had wanted to create new medicines that can help with illness and probably be a part of the cancer curing society but life happens.
She pulled her hair up in a tight bun and catching any lose stands that might have escaped. She stood and looked at herself in the mirror looking at her baby bump and smiling slightly. She turned her body and tried to see how she would look further down in her pregnancy. She wondered if Connor would still love her when she looked like a whale.
"You look beautiful." He said and she jumped startled at his presence. She hadn't heard the shower turned off or him entering the room. She closed her robe tied the knot. "What's wrong?" He walked up behind her and undid the knot and placed his on her rising stomach. She looked at him with doubt in her eyes everything was just happening too fast for her. She wanted Thanksgiving to be over with and she wanted her life to back to normal with Connor.
"Nothing." She said and slid out of his arms retying the knot and making her way to the closet.
"Jay I know you better than you know yourself." He stated and it was probably true. She skimmed through her clothes and stopped. She rested her head in her hands and the tears welled up and came spilling out he held her in his arms like how he always did. He took her chin and angles her face upwards. "What is wrong?" he asked again.
"I'm so overwhelmed." She admitted. "I mean my family is here and they are a set of racist bigots and I'm pregnant and my hormones are all over the place." She wept on his shoulder.
"I understand it's okay I can handle your family but you need to take it easy. You know you don't have to work." He reminded her this was another constant argument between them.
"Connor I want to it gives me a sense of purpose." She reminded him for the millionth time.
"It's no longer a good idea for you to be working around chemicals you are pregnant and many things in that lab can affect the babys growth and development." He lectured. She hadn't thought about that and she knew he was right and he knew best, heck he was a doctor.
"What am I to do to keep myself occupied?" She asked. "I have to work I don't want to be a housewife I was not built for that purpose." She said.
"Go shopping spend money, redecorate and you love cooking so cook. I don't know you have equal access to the cards and what are we doing with so much money come on go crazy and spend money." He smiled trying to cheer her up. It worked because she smiled, she knew she was having a little boy so why not go shopping for him.
"Is two thousand two much?" She asked. She didn't like asking or spending his money if felt wrong to her. "I mean I want to start buying baby things, if its too much I can just use my salary." She offered and he face palmed.
"Jay we have been married for two years and three months two thousand dollars from forty million is nothing my money is your money." He sat he down at the edge of the bed he robe shifting and exposing her ever growing breast.
"I know but you know how I feel about money." She said to him and he bowed his head.
"Our money is for us and our children. So buy whatever we might need buy a new house if you feel like it." He told her and she smiled this house was too much for just them with thirteen bedrooms and a house at the back that catered the staff.
