[Author’s Note:] If for some reason you’re thinking about this, know that I’m writing this for Camp NaNoWriMo, so there’s a lot of accidental contradictions, spelling errors, and general crazy-ness since I’m flying by the seat of my pants and trying to reach 50,000 words by June 30th :)  I don’t plan on editing this at all (except for spelling and grammatical mistakes from time to time) until after this month is over. Flames, critiques, anything, is totally welcome. You’ve been warned, haha.

Chapter 1. Introduction

‘Life is good,’ Madeline thought to herself as she stepped out of the shower and grabbed a fluffy pink towel. She dried herself, taking care to wipe off every drop of water, and proceeded to grab her cherry lotion from the shelf. Madeline always kept her body well lotioned, the smooth skin made her feel even more luxurious than usual.

The clock chimed a sweet little tune, ten notes to signal ten AM. ‘Hm, I’m up early,’ she thought, taking pride that she actually got up before noon this day. Finally all finished with her lotion and into a comfortable jumper, Madeline whisked through the open doorway into her room.

Her bedroom’s décor quite reflected what Madeline Benson was entirely about. A magnificent four-poster bed was in the center, against the far wall, and had a Victorian-esque look about it as did all the other furniture in the large room. It was filled with light pastel colors, and plenty of floral prints added to the feminine feel.

In fact, even the Screen had been customized so that the edges glowed a swirly soft pink. Madeline sat on the rose-print fabric that covered her footstool at her boudoir and took up her mother-of-pearl encased hairbrush. She delicately ran it through her hair, while she tried to get out any knots her scalp was tender and any harsh motion would create pain.

As she worked on a painless brushing she whistled a quick “come” command. A blonde head popped up from the other side of Madeline’s bed and came shuffling out into plain sight.

Madeline grinned and motioned for her pet to come sit by her feet. Her pet, such a wondrously obedient girl, padded towards her. Tail wagging, ears perked, Eloise could be the poster-pet for all the Pupz campaign (as far as Madeline was concerned).

“Hey, Eloise, sleep good?” Madeline asked as she went back to her hair-brushing. Eloise nodded, her single strand of blonde bounced against her pale cheek.

“Yes, is everything okay Miss Madeline? You got up early today,” Eloise asked.

“Oh yeah, everything is fine, I just had a dream,” she shrugged, “I decided I might as well stay up after reporting it. Could you go call for breakfast?”

“Yes, Miss Madeline.” Eloise stood on her hands and knees and crawled over to the bedside table (white marble with ornate carvings and a glass circle top) where there laid the newest mini Screen (not even the name had been released yet to most of the country, however the name at the top would not disappoint any) known as the Lamia.

Her fingers uncurled from the constant fists they made to stiffly tap against the sheer glass. Madeline called over to her, “Oh, and when you’re done, would you turn on the Screen?”

“Yep,” she answered. Madeline reached over to Eloise as she was reaching to rub between her ears, enjoying the short stubble of her shaved head.

“So, I was thinking that today would be great to go shopping for some more shoes… Make sure to wear your strong knee-pads, we’ll be going downtown,” she said. She stood up and opened up her closet door, revealing rows upon rows of shoes and dresses and skirts and blouses and undergarments and purses.

Madeline chose a strawberry printed, three tier skirt, along with a frilled bib white button-up. Her shin-length socks were barely pink with three strawberries embroidered at the top; they had been a gift from some designer, and the embroidery was designed to give off the strawberry scent. After several months they still smelled delightful. Then to top off her coordinate, she chose a pair of white leather rocking-horse shoes, and a PVC pink heart-shaped handbag.
