The sole protector--
Chapter 6-
“Peter, old friend! It is good to see y again. How many years has it been?” King Nathaniel asked.
“Too many, Nathaniel.” King Peter replied.
After the Kings began to talk amongst themselves, the hunters walked together and began talking. As I scanned the group, I noticed a boy looking a little lost. I assumed he was the king’s son out for his first hunting trip. I decided that it would be inappropriate to speak to him. He appeared to be about 16 years old.
“Men move out!” the kings ordered.
As we walked our horses to the gate, I noticed that the boy had fallen into a standard defensive position on the left side of the group. I thought, he just doesn’t realize he has done that. I trotted to the right and went into defensive stance 2. A position designed so that it wouldn’t seem as though I was protecting both groups. The Kings signaled the men to gallop their horses into the woods. Soon after entering the woods, we stopped and the men tied their horses to the trees. After the men walked into the woods, the boy started riding his horse towards me.
I said to myself, “If he talks to me, I will talk back just to be polite.”
“How are you, Warrior?”
“I am fine thank you. And how are you Prince?’
“Wait what!!!! You really thought I was the prince?” the boy whispered.
“Yes, but aren’t you?”
“No, I am a warrior, like you.”
“Oh.” I said, and remembering the King’s order, I clammed up.
“So what’s your name? Mine is William.”
I waved and shook my head.
“What? Are you not allowed to talk to warriors.”
I shook my head again.
“Why?””
I tilted my head towards the king.
“Oh I see, the king ordered you not to speak to me.
I nodded.
I pointed in two different directions, silently saying that we should separate.
He said, “Ok.” and walked away.
I whispered to myself, “Why can’t I talk to him. There has got to be a reason. Who can I ask that will actually tell me? Oh! I know who!”

Back at the castle-
“Mom! I have a question for you!
“Yes, Adeline?”
“Why would the king not want me to talk to the warrior from Aredien?”
“The King proposed to the princess from Aredien. They are hoping to become allies in case the Rherrakath’s attack. Also, they believe if our two kingdoms unite, new warriors will come about.”
“Really?!?! They want to breed us? That’s just wrong.”
“Well, warriors are the property of the Royals. We basically have to do everything that the King asks us to do. Although the king is fair, he always acts for the benefit of the kingdom.”
“But why? I mean, he isn’t that bad looking, but still.
“That is our duty. Wait, what do you mean? Not bad looking?”
“Well he is kinda cute.”
“Come on, you aren’t supposed to be thinking about boy until you are married.”
“Mom!!”
“Well, your not!”
“Ok, fine. Bye mom, love you.”
“I love you too.”
“See you later.”
