"Mom I'm home!" I yelled. But I was returned with silence. She's always here when I get home from school so I was confused. I just went to the kitchen, grabbed a snack, and went to my room.
I took a long ass nap like every Friday night when my friends were at work. I woke up around 12am. I heard a door slam and had to assume it was my mom. I got out of bed and went to her room. When I got there, I automatically started to panic. A man in all black was standing there next to my mom who didn't look like herself.
"Go to your room baby I'll come check on you in a minute." She said.
"What's going on?" I asked.
"She said go to your fucking room." The guy said. I looked at him with an attitude.
"Mom, what is going on?" I asked again.
"Look, she's kinda interrupting this-" he said, holding up a baggy of white powder. "-so get rid of the dyke before I do."
"I can't.." My mom started crying and shook her head, looking to the floor.
"Ight then it's yo choice." He took out a gun and turned towards me but I was already downstairs by the time he raised his arm. Luckily, I fell asleep with my clothes on so my phone and keys were still in my pocket.
I got into my car that my grandma gave me for my birthday and sped off right when he came out of the front door. I had no idea where to go, I just knew that I was scared and confused.
My mom was about to let him kill me for a night to do drugs in peace. I didn't even realize she was addicted to anything let alone doing things like that. I parked in the parking lot of an abandoned mall and cried so hard. It was midnight and I had no where to stay for the night.
I called my bestfriend Jayla and there was no answer. But fortunately she called back a minute later.
"Hello?" She answered. I never call her this late.
"Jay do you think your mom would have a problem with me staying over tonight?" I asked.
"Yeah it's kinda late though." She said.
"I know.. something came up and I need somewhere to stay tonight." I said.
"Okay come over. Just hurry." She said.
"Ight." I said. I hung up and drove to her house. She lived 5 minutes away from the mall so I was there in no time. I parked behind her car and texted her to let her know I was outside.
She opened the door and let me in, immediately noticing my red eyes and tear streaks.
"What's wrong?!" She asked.
"My mom.. she's addicted to cocaine apparently and she was about to let this guy shoot me for it." I explained, trying not to break down again. My mom betrayed me in the worst way possible.
"Oh my goddd my baby." She hugged me tightly and I couldn't help but cry again as she rubbed my back. "Come on."
We went downstairs to her bedroom and I sat on her bed. Her room was in the basement, it was a super nice basement though, looked just like a regular floor to the house.
"Go ahead and get comfortable." She said, handing me her shirt and a pair of shorts. "I'm gonna go talk to my mom real quick."
"Okay. Thanks Jay this means a lot." I said.
