I have somewhat of an idea what I'm doing.

------------

Ash POV

"You can't do that." I yelled

"Actually, I can, and I am, so start packing."

"No." I yelled, causing him to freeze in his spot. "I will not leave. I will not run. I am the Asher, I focus on the intel. I am heartless. I am cold. And I. Am. Staying." I whispered in a deathly calm voice.

"I could just send you home." He whispered shakily.

"You know I'd come back. New name, face. You know you wouldn't even notice me."

"Sir, a Mr. Lafayette would like to see you." The boy who informed George of me and Herc whispered.

"Send him in."

----------

"We need him Washington." Laf pleaded to George.

"No we don't. He was a daughter and a wife to take care of." I replied.

"And you think other people don't? You think that your brother is the only one that has loved ones he wishes he were with? You are so wrong." Laf yelled.

"I am a perfectly good option. He doesn't need to come back."

"We need him."

"I am truly hurt Laf. I'm hurt that you think my brother is better than me." I said mocking a pain in my chest

"I'll write the letter." George said

I stared at him, shock and hurt evident on my face.

"I'm sorry Ash. If this is the farthest away from the fight I can keep you, I'll do it."

-----------

George had sent the letter to Alex yesterday and we were waiting for him to come. Of course, I would hide when we saw him coming, but still.

"So Laf, what happens if we win?" I asked him.

"When, Ash. 'When we win'. Optimism is a powerful thing. Use it." He replied

"Jeez. You sound like you actually know what you're talking about." I joked.

"So funny. Look here he comes. Hide." He whisper-yelled.

I looked behind me to see Alexander riding towards us.

"Merde."

"Language."

"French."

"Ha ha ha." He said, his voice dripping with sarcasm.
