A crap photo from my little holdiday.

-------------------

Walking down the stairs of the massive house my legs are unsteady and I try my hardest to continue without toppling over. Fiddling with the big t-shirt that hangs off my body I know its Gabriel's, his smell wafts off of it. He walks next to me purposely making his usually long strides small to match mine. I catch his eye as he glances over to me concerned. My stomach growls for food, the exhaustion from shifting catching up with me.

Following Gabriel I begin to hear the noise of other shifters become louder. At this I become nervous my brain going a mile a minute. The fact that I am now human a disadvantage and vulnerability creeps in. As we approach the entrance I slow down. These wolves could hurt me they will be angry with me for injuring another Alpha and I cannot protect myself.

Noticing my slowed steps Gabriel's turns to me eyebrows scrunched, until he sees my scared expression.

"Don't worry Eira," his eyes hold the tenderness I know that he only reserves for me and those he cares about. "I have taken care of everything. Nobody will hurt you. Many of the Alpha's and Luna's are against the abuse of one's pack."

Seeing my unease he adds "I am here to protect you," he says reaching his large hand out to brush stray hair from my face. "I will protect you until my last breath." his eyes connect with mine, they shine with the truth of his words and I feel myself comforted by his words, surprised by my compliance for him to touch me vulnerability making me long for the comfort only he can provide.

Continuing our steps towards the noise of chattering voices it gets louder and my nerves increse. Entering the room I notice the sheer amount of people, tables line the room Alpha's and Luna's chattering to one another. Feeling scared my hands shake slightly and I grip the end of the shirt tightly.

As Gabriel steps through the threshold his powerful presence is made known, his power radiates off him. All eyes turn towards us and immediately I hide my body behind his attempting to find some kind of comfort and reassurance. He moves forward through the large tables of people and I can feel them looking at me. If I was in wolf form I would have growled deterring their blatant stares. But only being in human form I scurry as close as possible to Gabriel, positive he is able to feel my hot breath on his broad back I am so close.

I hear a slight growl to my left and I can't help but lift my head. The Alpha I injured earlier sitting or more like being held down by those around him. A white bandage wrapped around his neck. A skinny pale looking girl stands behind him holding a pitcher of water head bowed. Scared that he might break free I slip my hand into Gabriel's. Noticing the commotion he turns in the direction of the other Alpha and growls in warning, not a loud growl but a low and dangerous one sending the Alpha back down into his seat with a disgruntled look.

Gabriels hand is warm and big encasing my small one almost fully. We make it to a table near the end of the room and sit in two vacant seats. opposite to us sits a man and a woman middle aged grey hairs lightly dusted through their hair. The rest of the table is surrounded by powerful Alpha's and Luna's I can sense the different levels of power radiating from them.

"Good morning Elder Mitchell," Gabriel says " Elder Stephanie." he nods.

"Hello Alpha Gabriel," Elder Mitchell acknowledges with a warming smile "how is your pack, the problem with those nearing rouges resolved?" he asks.

"Yes, sir. The problem was dealt with." he says respectfully.

Food of all kinds is placed down on the tables in front of us and everyone begins to dig in. Keeping my head down try to avoid contact with anyone around me avoiding conflict, something I am not used to. My hand still rests in Gabriel's him having not let go. He piles food on my plate with his other hand, more than I can eat.

"And this must be the mate I have heard so much about." Stephanie says an amused glint in her eye and I take the time to observe her, though her hair held the grey of her years, her smile and eyes showed just how young she felt. Her features hard and weathered from the stress of her years.

"Yes it is, this is Eira." Gabriel says his hand tightening around mine slightly, cautiously.

"Hmm, I've heard much. A rouge as a mate." she says sceptically "Very unique, unexpected for you Gabriel. Though you don't seem as the wild animal who almost took a chunk of ignorant Alpha Jacob's neck." she barks out a laugh at that, obviously amused at the wolves antics. I stare blankly not knowing what to say unable to find amusement in her words.

"Yes well we believe Eira had been a Rogue for a long time and in wolf form for most of her life." Gabriel states, I feel uncomfortable being talked about while I am present.

"Ahh, I understand." she hums eyeing me for a few seconds longer.

The remainder of the dinner goes by smoothly except for the deadly glances from Alpha Jacob though as soon as we make eye contact I look away. Gabriel's hand remains in mine most of the time only leaving it to cut his and my own food.

Entering into our room Gabriel leave's to the bathroom to get changed, he had set up yet another makeshift bed on the ground leaving the bed for me once again. Taking my pants of I leave Gabriel's big t-shirt on as it hags below my thighs and climb into the bed and under the covers. Gabriel exits the bathroom clothes in hand, only covered by the underwear on his waist. The light, though only dim illuminates his body, the broadness of his shoulders and abs slightly showing in the light. Catching myself staring I quickly look away embarrassed for invading his privacy his body not being my own and not something I should take pleasure in observing.

Hearing a light chuckle come from him as he crawls down into the makeshift bed "You can look all you want Eira, we're mates after all." I turn to see his amused smiling face and I still find myself embarrassed and shove my face under the blankets only to hear his laughter incase the room making myself smile slightly knowing he couldn't see.

Hours have passed and I still can seem to find sleep, something that has become a regular occurrence for me and I find my self still thinking of Gabriel, somewhat craving him. Sitting up on the bed I look down to him unable to figure out whether he is asleep or not, unable to see his face or hear him snoring.

"G-Gabriel" I whisper quietly not expecting him to answer.

He sits up straight away and looks towards me and I can see his wide eyes through the darkness. "Yeah?" he asks tiredly.

"U-Ummm," I say nervously "C-C-an you l-lay with me?" I ask, stuttering out of nervousness more than anything.

Without saying anything he hops up eagerly pulling the covers away and climbing in with me. We don't touch but I can feel the brush of his arm against mine and it comforts me enough to finally fall asleep.
