Sitting in a too big chair I am surrounded by the rest of the Alpha's and Luna's in a formal meeting. Gabriel sits next to me stiff his face not showing emotion. Seperate to the table I sit on is a taller crescent moon shaped table towards the end of the room, sitting on it is the Elders. I can see Elder Stephanie and Elder Mitchell seated in the middle and others I have not met surrounding them, they all sit with blank expressions as the rest of the wolves below them argue.
"My pack is growing, we need the land! Room to train and build more houses, larger facilities!" one argues. Three neighbouring leaders are fighting over neutral land, claiming they all need it for their pack. All they want is power, to control others. what they don't think about is the wild and the animals that inhabit it, if they expand their packs more the food to hunt will be scarce.
"So do we Jason! My pack is even larger than yours, I need to maintain a healthy pack and need the land to do so." the other tries to reason.
Continuing to bicker between one another I begin to get frustrated with their ignorance. Yes they care for their pack but they don't know how that also effects the animals and nature which could later ruin their pack.
"Enough." Elder Mitchell says calmly, he doesn't yell like the others, he already has their respect, or maybe fear is what compels them to listen.
"The land that you fight for is also what provides your food, take to much and you pack will not thrive like you expect it to. Half the land and divide it equally." Nobody argues, seeing his reason.
"Any other problems to discuss?" he asks. We had been here for hours not only discussing the division of land, but also rogue problems and something called mating games.
"Okay now, onto the problem of Damien." he says causing everyone to murmur quietly.
"Kill him." A woman next to me, she sits tall power radiates off her, obviously an Alpha, though no man sits by her like a lot of the other leaders. There is silence at her words.
"No, Alpha Damien follows tradition of the old packs, there is nothing wrong with what he do-" It's the cruel Alpha, the one I attacked. But It's Gabriel who cuts in next to me deadly calm, though I can feel the anger emitting from him. "He follows no tradition. The old packs held wolf fighting, yes but it was only for those who would voluntarily fight to show their strength and excel in the ranks of their pack not to abuse innocent wolves and entertain the sick minds who thrive on it" he says.
I freeze my body tensing up. Gabriel's words the only thing ringing in my head over and over 'wolf fighting'
'get up mutt' Sir spits at me. My body aches from the many fights of the previous night, blood still coats my body, though its not mine, the blood of others and just at the reminder of what I have done I crawl tighter into the ball I was already in.
Hearing his footsteps leave I still don't relax, I know their is more to come he never leaves me without inflicting pain, he has to feel like he has won, that he is superior to me.
I hear the swoosh in the air before I feel the pain of the whip on my back and I cry out as it cuts through my flesh like a knife.
What feels like hours pass before Sir stops, I can feel the blood trickling down my back and through my fur but I don't feel the pain anymore, my body is shutting down, protecting me from him.
Black clouds my vision 'Thats what you deserve mutt.' He says just as I feel myself slip from this cruel reality.
Shoved into the arena I hear the roar of the crowd cheering for me, the monster they made me. Standing I am ready for what I have to do, there is no way out, I have done this many times before and escape is futile.
Another wolf strides through his gate and into the arena not having to be forced, he is confident, he is brainwashed. What they make us do is wrong I do not want to hurt others, I do not want to be held captive.
'WELCOME TO THE ARENA, THE NUMBER ONE PLACE FOR WOLF FIGHTS. ON THE RIGHT WE HAVE THE UNDEFEATED SAVAGE' The crowd goes crazy cheering for me but I only stand anticipating whats to come. 'AND ON THE LEFT, THE BEAST!' He yells.
It's all over after a short while, the beast is on the ground blood marrying his body and I breathe a sigh of relief thankfully I can see his chest rising and falling slightly.
I look up to see Sir's happy face as he is handed more money his face showing excitement, the usual scene after I have hurt yet another person.
It's all over in a flash, though it feels like hours. Jacob is still fighting with other Alpha's and Luna's both Gabriel defending what he knows is right. The Woman next to me also explains her views. She is tough, not letting those around her sway her opinion and letting others know she is above them, a true leader a woman born to be an Alpha. Unlike Jacob who only has his best interest in mind with no consideration for his pack.
"It is a sport if some people get hurt in the process that has to be expected. That happens, this is widely supported in our packs." he says referring to the other dishonourable pack leaders next to him.
I can't control myself, I have seen the way Gabriel treats his pack, he loves them like family, he may act tough but he loves them. That is how an Alpha should treat those who follow him. But instead these people think it's okay to torture and abuse others, they think its okay when its not. They did this to me and thats not okay all I want is to be a normal wolf and because of people like them I will never be.
"Enough!" I yell pushing my chair back, my instinct propelling me to put this dreadful man, no boy in his place. "You are disgusting, cruel and wolf fighting is wrong." turning to lift my shirt up "This is not how you treat those who follow you." showing the scars from whipping, from bite marks from the people who hurt me and the people who I hurt. Not stopping to see their reaction "We kill the one who leads this craze" my voice coated with a growl holding all my anger, the scared girl gone for this moment of dispute.
Sitting down in the chair the room is silent.
"So that is the girl who took a chunk of Alpha Jacob's neck" Elder Stephanie Laughed despite the tenseness of the moment. I take a breath sitting down calming my self, willing myself not to shift with the instinct of my elevated anger. Gabriel rubs my back whispering how proud he is of me calming me and the instinct to shift.
A man from the Elder table stands, tenderness in his eyes "The way of wolf fighting is not celebrated right in these packs. This is a problem that needs to be fixed. You will return to your packs while the Elders review the situation. You will be notified of decisions in due time." he states.
"Now that's one way to get their attention," the woman next to me whispers eyes laughing. "I'm Ezmae."
"Eira." I shake her outstretched hand just as i have seen Gabriel do so and i admire the powerful woman before me.
