Dear Alaska,

I'm so sorry I left you, baby. I tried to stay as long as I could.

You are going to have so many questions.

I need you to listen to what this letter has to say.

Calum is a good boy, I trust him.

He's going to keep you safe and he'll do anything to protect you.

Please give him a chance, if you have any questions ask him when you feel like it's a good time.

I love you so much, I'll always be with you.

Please,

I reread the letter and wonder why Calum would need to keep me safe, and more important what will he need to protect me from?

This whole letter thing seems so shady. It's my dad's handwriting but why wouldn't he finish the letter?

I check the time on the clock positioned on the nightstand. I take the letter delicately and turn the light off before walking back to my room.

As soon as I'm about to lay in bed, I start to think about the whole Calum thing. If my own father tells me I should befriend him and trust him; I will.

What could he possibly be protecting me from? The sound of vibration breaks me out of my trance.

I answer the call in confusion, "Hey beautiful." Calum's voice was soft and sweet.

"How'd you get my number?" I ask a hint of fatigue in my voice.

My fingers fiddled with the blanket as I waited for his answer, "I put it in before I gave it to you when I dropped you off earlier." I could practically hear the smirk in his voice.

A small yawn escaped my lips before replying, "Oh, okay. Calum, I found a-a letter from my dad," I pause closing my eyes, "I have some things we need to talk about. Just not today, okay?"

"Okay, Alaska. You seem sleepy, so I'll let you go." I smile at how tired he sounds as well, it's cute.

"Alright, Calum. Good night." I get up from the bed making sure the window in my room is locked.

"Good night, babe." I smile slightly putting my phone underneath my pillow.

I go around the house quickly assuring that every window and door leading outside is locked.

I walk back into my room, laying in bed feeling so exhausted. My flutter closed and I drift into a deep slumber, while trying to dream a good dream for once.

-

A knock at my door is the first thing I hear as my eyes meet the sunlight. I groan as I walk down the stairs and to the door.

I open the door, trying to adjust to the bright sunlight.

"Hi!" The lightheaded girl at my door says while smiling enthusiastically.

"Who are you?" I ask scrunching up my eyebrows while staring at her.
