3 years later...

Tiny Marisol, no longer as small as she was, woke from her sleep when sunlight hit her brown eyes. She was still getting used to not stretching anymore as soon as she woke up, because now at her size, she could destroy things and hurt Nina.

As she lifted her head, she tenderly observed how cute Nina and Ferdinand were while they were asleep.

Even sleeping, he was still the most beautiful thing the young cow had ever seen.

He was beautiful, like a flower. During those years, despite everything, she couldn't get him out of her heart. Not knowing how long she stood there watching him, until he started to wake up and she quickly looked away.

"Good morning Maria." He babbled, still a little groggy from sleep.

"Hey, good morning." Marisol greeted him back, trying to look natural.

"How long have you been awake? And I love you."

"I love you too." She replied, but her way of saying it was completely different from his.

The young cow soon noticed the sad expression on his face, which was not very common, he was always so smiling and happy.

"You look sad." She said.

"Oh, it's nothing." He replied, not wanting to talk about it.

Nina started to stretch and woke up, a smile on her face to see her animals there with her.

"Good morning, my lovelies." She murmured, stroking their ears.

The day passed, both were sad for the same reason, but avoided talking to each other about it.

Marisol went up the hill to watch the sunset, leaning against the tree and feeling like she could fall asleep there.

However, Ferdinand appeared, claiming he also wanted to watch the sunset, but what he wanted was to talk to her. For some reason, her unhappiness saddened him even more.

"Hey." He said, not knowing how to start.

"Hello." She said.

"Are you okay?"

"As far as possible, yes."

"Marisol, are you happy living here with us?" The bull asked.

"Of course, I love living on the farm, the girls, Nina and all of you. But..." Her words faltered for a moment, but she continued. "I feel like I won't be able to rest until I know what happened to my mother."

It was at that moment that Ferdinand also remembered, when his mother was taken from Casa Del Toro, after he was strong enough to no longer need to be breastfed. He remembered the days when he cried for his mother, but calmed down when his father comforted him. Now he had neither.

"My mother was taken from me when I was very young." He did, which surprised her.

"...Really?" She asked.

"Yea." He replied. "I miss them everyday, I wish I had more time."

Ferdinand started to cry, which made her heart ache, she had never seen him cry before. Even the happiest animals had their moments of sadness.

"Hey, don't cry, sorry I didn't mean to make you cry..." She said, trying to wipe away his tears.

"It's okay, it wasn't your fault." He sniffled and gave her a smile. "It's OK."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, my life is amazing today. I live on this farm and I have you."

Marisol smiled, feeling her heart melt at his words.

She felt that this was the right time to declare her feelings to him.

"Hey, can I tell you something?" She asked.

"You know you can tell me anything." He replied, winking at her.

"...So, do you remember when I always say I love you?"

"Yes, and I also say I love you."

"Well, actually, since I was a little girl I haven't loved you like the others." Marisol replied, looking him deep into his eyes.

When he saw it, their lips touched in a kiss.

Realizing what had just happened, Ferdinand despaired, it was so confusing that he couldn't see Marisol anymore as that frightened heifer that had arrived at the farm.

"H-how did I let this happen?" He said, feeling guilty for having done that.

Marisol was shocked that he let her kiss him, she knew he reciprocated her feelings, but for some reason he denied it.

"Why does it feel so wrong to you?" She asked, trying to get closer to cuddle, but he pulled away.

"You wouldn't understand, you're just a child."

"I was a child!" She snapped.

"I'm sorry, I have to go!" He said, before running as fast as he could, leaving Marisol behind with her heart broken into a million pieces.
