Morning came quickly, and Gajeel awoke to incredible smells coming from the kitchen and automatically knew what it was due to his enhanced sense of smell. Bacon and eggs! Levy laughed as he rolled off the couch, he stood up, rocking back and forth as he tried to find his balance. He stumbled to the table, sitting down as the sizzling and popping of the bacon echoed through the room.
“It looks like I'm getting more out of this deal than you are,” he said, smiling to himself.
“Well I have another favor to ask of you, so don't say that too soon.”
As he ate the bacon and eggs gleefully as she explained her predicament. “We have to take this job, but none of us are at full strength yet. Is there any way you can come along to help?”
He nodded, “of course! I'm the reason you guys aren't up to full speed so why not make it up to you?” This wasn't the only reason he wanted to come along.
“Good! Now I need to convince Jet and Droy….” She said before drifting off.
“They don't know you're asking me?” he replied.
“Well, no. But I'll explain it to them and they'll listen. It will take time, but they'll go with it because of how desperate we are.” she said as she shrugged off the solemn look on her face. “And don't worry, we'll split the earnings fair and square.”
“No, I don't need any payment.”
“No, Gajeel, I'm not going to take advantage of you.”
“Well you do need a favor, and this is what I'm offering, you won't be taking advantage of me,” he explained, finishing off his food as he did so.
“Okay, you should probably go back to your place, I need to get Jet and Droy on board, but I'll let you know when I do,” she explained.
“I'll see you later,” he waved as he walked out the door.
When he closed it, another member of Fairy Tail glanced at him, noticing his unkempt look. Gajeel ignored him, walking past as if it didn't look like it did. As he opened the door to his own room, he compared Levy’s warm, cozy room to his own. The walls were a dull beige, the small twin bed one of the few things that could fit. There was no kitchen, so his only option had been to eat in the Guild hall. Unless he could use that as an excuse to be at Levy’s.
“Oh Levy,” he thought, smiling to himself. Even though she wasn't the prettiest girl he had ever seen, she was definitely the kindest, and she wasn't bad looking. He realized how much he wanted to kiss her again when he heard a knock on the door. He opened it and Levy stood on the other side. She kissed him, somewhat forcefully, knocking the both of them off balance. He fell backwards, landing on his back as she fell on top of him.
“I'm, I'm sorry, I just,”
“Wanted to kiss me again?” he interrupted, finishing her sentence and he stood up, helping her up after.
“Yeah. I didn't realize your room was so small,” she replied, changing the subject.
“It is. It's probably because I'm a new member,” he said.
She stood awkwardly, moving towards the door. “Well, I need to go, so I'll let you know what Jet and Droy say about you coming.”
“Okay, see you Levy,” he smiled as he waved.
She walked out and closed the door. She had first talked herself into going back to see him and kissed him on impulse, but afterward her confidence popped, causing her to be a shy, nervous wreck. How could he ever like her, she wasn't as sexy as other girls in Fairy Tail, why would he go after her instead of Lucy or Cana? Oh well, she already asked him to come with them on their mission, time would tell if he truly liked her. For now, she focused on Jet and Droy’s willingness to let Gajeel come with them.
