Marinette's POV:
Flashback
I was working in the bakery on one of the busiest days of the year. It was the day of the big festival. The bakery was filled with children and parents buying fresh-baked goods. "With all the money we're earning today, I'm bound to save up enough to go to collage!" I thought.
Just then, my mother and father came out form the storage room.
"Marinette, how would you like to go and enjoy the festival? We can handle things here!" my mother said.
"Really?" I asked.
"Really." said my dad. "Go have fun!"
"Thank you! Thank you! Thank you so much!" I said, running out the door.
I ran straight to the village square. It looked beautiful this time of year. Red flowers were hung everywhere around and strings of candles were too. Children ran around, and parents were buying gifts from multiple gift stands. Near a gazebo, a band played while couples danced. I just stood there, in awe of all the beauty.
"It's quite beautiful." someone said behind me.
I spun around to see the protector of our village, Chat Noir. He didn't know it, but I was actually his partner, Ladybug.
"Yeah, it is...." I said. "What are you doing here?"
"Just because I'm a superhero, doesn't mean I can't have fun too, cupcake." Chat smiled.
Cupcake was my nickname. Once a pirate came into town and tried to rob the bakery. Chat Noir had saved us, and given me the nickname cupcake, since I had offered him one when the irate was gone.
Chat looked at the gazebo, and his cat ears perked up.
"Would you care to dance?" he bowed, reaching out his hand.
"I would love to." I said.
Chat Noir led me to the gazebo, and we started to dance. The room started to spin as we twirled and waltzed. We danced for hours until our feet hurt. Just then, the music stopped abruptly as a cannon was fired in the distance. Everyone, including myself, turned to the castle, to see it on fire! The crowd went into chaos.
"Grab on!" Chat Noir said.
I grabbed onto his shirt as he jumped across town, back to the bakery. When he put me back on the ground, he turned and said,
"The King might be in danger, I must leave!" and he ran off.
"Marinette!" my parents cane running to me. "Are you alright? We were so worried!" they babbled on and on.
"I'm fine!" I said. "Chat Noir escorted me home."
My patents just looked at me in shock.
"Well, you better go write a thank you note right now!"My mom said. Why do parents always make you give a thank you card?! It feels unnecessary.
Two days later, and news was spread throughout the country: The king was dead. He had been murdered. They still hadn't found the culprit.
I sat in my room pondering what would happen to the kingdom when someone pounded on the door. I started to go down to a answer it, but my mother stopped me.
"Mari, stay up here. Don't come down unless we say so." she said.
I wasn't just gonna sit there! I had to know what was going on, so I just lingered around. Staying hidden, and hearing every word.
"What seems to be the trouble sir?" I heard my mother say.
"We have reasons to believe you are the heirs to the throne." said a deep voice.
WHAT.
I took a quick glance at who was speaking. I saw the royal crest on his cloths. It was a royal guard!
"You must be mistaken," I heard my dad say. "I'm an only child. There's no way I'm related to the King."
"Our royal scribes discovered the late King's birth certificate. Attached to the back of it was yours. You both have the same last name." the royal guard said.
"This is insane." my mom said.
"You must come to the palace at once. The kingdom needs to be governed. NOW."
"Yes sir,"my mom sighed. "Mari! Come down please."
I walked down the stairs cautiously.
"Mari, it turns out-"
"I heard everything." I finished.
"Then you understand what we must do." my dad said.
"I understand, Papa." I sighed.
"Come with me" the royal guard led us out the door.
My family and I stepped into a Carriage. I looked back at my home. I had no idea, it would be my last.
One week later, I stood on my balcony. Well, my new one. I was living in a palace now. I no longer wore my normal cloths, but gowns. I stood out in the cool night air. I tried to find my old village, but it was too far away to see.
"Hello cupcake,"
Chat Noir stood behind me.
"Hello Chat," I said with a sad smile. "You heard?"
"Of course," he bowed to me.
"Looks like should call you Princess now."
