I spent a couple days with my mom, which was very much needed. It had been so long since the last time I had interaction with her other than on the phone, and I'm usually so busy that those don't last very long. We went to the mall the second day that I was there, just to check stuff out. I didn't need to look at anything since I have the same stuff back in Phoenix. "What do you want from me?" "Mom, no. I will not let you buy me something from this place." "I have to! This is the one time I get to see my oldest this year and I want to get you something!" "I don't want anything, I am a young, independent man that is making plenty of money. If I want something I can buy it, you don't need to worry about me anymore." "I AM YOUR MOTHER!!! I WILL WORRY ABOUT YOU UNTIL THE DAY I DIE AND NOTHING WILL CHANGE THAT!!!" I just stared at her with this very worried and confused face, not entirely sure what I said that caused her to go off on me like that. Thankfully she was sort of joking with me when she did it, even though it was extremely loud, half the mall turned to look at us, and I thought my ears were bleeding. "Okay. Uh, how about this pair of sunglasses?" I say, pointing at a pair of Oakley aviators. "Jesus Jupiter! Those are $200! I asked you to pick out one thing and you choose the most expensive thing in the store!" I laugh at the statement and tell her to stay there because I'm going to use the bathroom. I didn't actually, but I know how she is. She will say something, wait for an opportunity to get whatever it was I mentioned that I wanted, and then buy it, hide it, and give it to me when we get home. She is very predictable. So I got back to her, and we continued to walk around the mall, going in to whatever stores we thought would have what we wanted. The most buying happened in Hot Topic, where I purchased $70 worth of Megadeth, Metallica, Def Leppard, and even Avenged Sevenfold. Being around my mom kept my mind off of Cyber, but I thought about her when I slept. Had dreams about our future. Our lives together until the day that 'death do us part.' After spending the whole day at the mall, I was driving back to the house when mom turned to me and said, "I'm not making dinner tonight." I was in shock. "But we were supposed to have Thanksgiving dinner tonight! It makes sense because we were at the mall all day but I thought maybe you'd have something figured out!" I was actually disappointed, because she makes the best turkey and mashed potatoes I've ever tasted. "Nope. Instead we'll go to the casino and obliterate their buffet!" "Oh hell yes!" So I continue down the street and head out of town, towards the casino. I think you can understand how the rest of the night went. We stuffed ourselves to the point that it was extremely uncomfortable, and went home, to spend the rest of the waking hours watching whatever seemed interesting on TV. "I have the coolest parents." I quietly said to myself, before passing out in the guest room.
