Chapter 14: The unwanted reality

That time I knew I was following him but in an instance he was gone. I searched for him among the crowd but I can't find him. 

Then a loud piercing shrill came. I was stunned as everyone was already running and shouting. I know what is happening. But I can't move my legs as if it was nailed on the floor, I watched the students running and shouting in fear. I know what and why they are trying to run it's to save their precious little life from a mercenary...I have seen this chaotic outburst of humans..it always happened whenever I appeared infront of them...

but am I the reason why they are running away?

I don't understand.

"Damn it! Why aren't you moving now? Run!"

I was startled by that voice...where did it came from? And that voice, I already heard that voice before...it seems like it came from that male human... 

I tried to find him from those running humans but still he was no where.

"Damn, Devon why are you still standing there? I told you to run!"

"But where the hell are you? How come I can hear you?"

"This is not the time for me to tell you... just run and hide!"

Hide? where? I know that they are here to get me. They will never fail to find an escaped android.

But I won't allow them to catch me. I started running but in the middle of it I froze...

There it was...a class A android. Killing a student without mercy. That student is a class S human. But his strength is no match to that android. 

What should I do? In this situation I should have thought of that already but my brain is not working properly. My whole body was trembling as I stood there watching how that merciless android killing that human. I can clearly hear the human's pleading voice... he was asking for help but no one is coming...

then there he is, he flies as fast as a lightning. He drags 'it's whole body away from that dying human. I can't believe that I am just standing here without even doing anything. I was totally hit by what I just witnessed. 

Three months ago I-I was one of 'them'. Eradicating humans without mercy as long as I received a mission. There's no question asked. I would immidiately ratify it...without any hesitation. 

And now that I actually saw it being me slowly retrieving my humanity...it shocked me that I can't even take away my eyes to those humans being illiminated by 'them'. There were actually four of them, all class A androids. I've met them once a long time ago, when a bunch of class S humans needed to be illiminated ASAP that they summoned the five of us to complete the mission. And I know their ability...I gasped loudly when one of them vanished. 

"Behind you I shoute!" I was supposed to jump in from this building's fifth floor but then I felt an unknown force that made me stopped. 

Then I realized that every students around me stopped running too. They were all like a statue... and I, the androids-they are moving in slow mo- and James were the only one moving...I exhaled as James managed to dodge the android's onslaught.

What is going on? From my pheriperal vesion I saw a shadow moved and instanly she was in front of me. Staring coldly...she had that icy blue eyes and familiarly grayish-silver hair... 

"Hey..." she whispered to my left ear that sent chills down to my spine...I was immidiately ten meters away from her.

"Hmmm..too slow..."

My eyes narrowed. She noticed it. What I had discovered a while ago was that I am losing my abilities as an android. 

"Who are you?" I asked trying to make it sound like what she discovered about me is nothing. When in reality I am starting to feel fear... for this cold and thin young girl yet exudes power I only felt from James. Her power is unknown and what is unknown is frightening.

Then I heard a thud like foot steps...it was too soft...I knew who owns it. As I looked up he was already standing beside her.. staring at me with those unreadable eyes. Even though I think it was silly but I felt a relief inside me...relief that he's here and that that also means he already exterminate those androids.

"I told you to protect her not to scare her." he quietly hissed at her with his blank eyes still on me. 

"I didn't do anything. I just noticed what Inno had told to you and the others. She's becoming human now and yet she can't still remember anything." she muttered. 

I opened my mouth to say something but closed it again since I really don't know what to say.

"My job here is done. Nice seeing you again...Devon." 

then she was gone...and we were back to that forest...called ruins.

I'm not sure how come we were already here but since the moment I met this male human everything seems to happen without explanation at all. It seems like things that are impossible could be possible with him just like now...it was so clear that we just escaped from that place...

"So tell me you knew that they will come."

"Yes."

"Then why do you have to to let them penetrate that place?! If you knew it already then why didn't you tell me?! " I shouted. All the fears, anger and guilt that I felt during that time that I watched my 'kind' doing their 'mission' came all out. I was-I was actually mad that I was grabbing his collars. Then I was shell-shocked when he just grabbed my waist and hugged me tightly. I struggled back. Fighting back the sudden rush of that warm tingling emotion in me. 

"Let go! You jerk!" I shouted.

"I'm sorry if you saw it..." he whispered. And I was frozen on my toes. I had never heard someone's voice as lonely and devastated as what he had now. I tried to move a bit to see his face but he just hugged me tighter.

"Devon...can you say it again..."

"What?" I asked fully puzzled with what he is talking about and astounded with the sudden change of topic.

"Say it...my name.."
